NEW Midway Pietta 1860 in Army Question

What Gee said... Pietta's don't suffer from short arbor syndrome. With that wedge driven in firmly with a nylon mallet, it's not going anywhere.

    Thanks for the membership

Hi, Pat! You're a ways off from your usual stomping grounds. Great to have you here!

    Re-vamp the site?

I also ignore the classifieds. Every time I go there it costs me money, buying things I never knew I needed until there it is, staring me in the face. Even if I don't go there, they hunt me down like a **** hound.

    Nobody does it better.

    High praise for Two Feathers

I have a .54 roundballs bag he made and it's slicker than a greased pig.

1863 Starr single action revolver cylinder stop or a parts gun

I have one but it's currently attached to my Pietta Starr SA.

    New Folk Firearms Collective video

From what I've read, there are only two repros that have been made and the cost to make them was astronomical.

    Grease in Revolver

Thank you kindly for the nod, sir. Been doing this BP revolver thing a long time, and never too old to learn.

    Grease in Revolver

As a former totally dedicated "rip and strip" guy after every outing...with every gun...I've found the synthetic Mobil 1 grease Mike uses works very well, and as mentioned, only needs clean-out and replacing maybe once a year...at your leisure, and not the same day you shoot the gun. Saves a ton...

    Grease in Revolver

Bear in mind that when packed full with Mobil 1 (as Mike likes to do) it's very difficult for any fouling to get past the grease.

    Birchwood Caseys Perma Blue

I have found Oxpho Blue (the gel form) to do a much better job than Perma Blue, and last longer as well. Brownell's carries it. Before use, wipe the part down with denatured alcohol and warm it up.

    Uberti deceiving arbor fit

I didn't just hear it. I got three Goonerized guns in my safe that confirm it every time I shoot and handle them.

    Disappointments in this life

Too much cylinder/barrel gap? Hammer pushing the cylinder forward? Or bad caps. Check to see if the primer compound has fallen out.

    Starr revolver discoveries

As an owner of a Pietta SA, another thing I've noticed is the Pietta bolt head is larger than the cylinder notches and quickly peens the edges over. After viewing a number of originals on line, you can see they were more oval shaped and probably worked way better. If you're going to make a...

Are cap rakes really necessary or a solution in search of any real problem ?

I am privy to owning one of Mike's guns with both the cap rake and action shield, as well as a few with just the rake. I've had nary a smidge of trouble with any of them. I'm sold.

    Confederate Revolvers

The major issue with with the topic is it always seems to end up in a barroom brawl that gets many a good thread shut down, and many a good member given the old heave-ho. Just sayin'.
