What size cards/wads for choked barrels?

Figuring out what works with a new gun is plain fun. If the barrels are choked that's good. As for the trigger pulling so hard, I put a piece of leather on the nipple and pull the trigger with the gun empty. It seems like the more I use the trigger the lighter it pulls.

What size cards/wads for choked barrels?

I just bought a CVA 12 gauge double barrel. I assumed the barrels were cylinder bore. Before the gun arrived I sent away for 12 gauge over powder, cushion and over shot wads. My plan was to try different loads including the Sky load. I soaked wads for the sky load. I dipped some cushion wads in...

Open Rear Sight Conversion to Peep

I would think that a higher than normal front sight would be needed, but you're hitting low at 50 yards. Maybe your fiber optic is higher than the one made for the gun.

    Michigan muzzleloader hunting..

My local pawn shop has lots of muzzleloaders turned in because of the rules change. That’s the good news. The bad news is most of them have rusty bores. I think that is because those that had them weren’t black powder people. They were just hunters wanting more time afield.

Now that I think about it, they have a season for the disabled which even includes the blind. I think being bald is a disability too!

    Michigan muzzleloader hunting..

Michigan has a deer hunting season for most everyone. I’m still waiting for the season that only open for deer hunters with hair loss.

Groups are better at 50 yards than 25 yards

So lets go through this. Our range matches use 2 different targets, smaller at 25 yards and larger at 50 & 100. This would call for a small insert at 25 with white showing around the black. At 50 yards, a larger insert with roughly the same width white showing. At 100 yards, because the target...

Groups are better at 50 yards than 25 yards

So let me see if I can put the things above together. If I sight in with the smallest black dot I can see, I will then have a nice white circle around the black dot and inside the insert. But when shooting in a match, I would use a large insert so there is white target around the black bullseye...

I have an order in for Lee Shaved inserts, which maybe easier to use because they aren't as thick and blocky.

I use a Lyman globe .84+ high. The insert is probably the smaller circle of the set. I’m away from home, traveling so I don’t have the sight to look at.

You may be right, I’ll try a smaller target.
