    Looking for a range rod

I second Whitworths' suggestion of a US .50 Cal rod. You can get adapters that will bring the thread at the tip to 8/32 or 10/32. They are lighter than the brass rods, and take a variety of tips.

Hawken from #11 nipple to musket caps...

I have both #11 and musket cap nipples for my T/C rifle. As mentioned, they are 1/4"x28 thread, and I have had no problem with mine.

    I need a little advice

I could well be mistaken, but I think the term "navy", as far as Colt is concerned, refers to the naval battle scene roll-stamped on the cylinder.

All-day hunt: What & how do you carry your gear?

I am much like you. I carried 4-5 pre-measured powder charges, a ball board with pre-lubed patches, a short starter, a bit of leather with holes punched around the edge to hold percussion caps, a nipple pick, and a nipple wrench. Everything fits in my pockets.

    Tc

IMO, the big problem was that TC took a patent on the word "Hawken". The firearms they made did not have more than a passing similarity to the J&S Hawken rifles. Personally, I like that the TC rifles and pistols are so different. It means no one will be able to hump one and claim is was an...

    How many ram rods?

More than 12. I learned the hard way that most ramrods that come with black powder rifles are, at best, decorations. So I have a a solid 1-piece ramrod for every rifle. I keep the rod stored in the barrel, with a few inches sticking out. With a cleaning jag screwed on one end, and a "T"...

    Hawker nipple issue- help

Swabbing between shots? That is a range rule. We mostly rely on the honor system, and remind those who forget. Putting a bit of 4F under the nipple is my personal solution to the caps failing to set off the powder charge.

    Hawker nipple issue- help

My club requires swabbing after each shot. One of my favorite rifles is a CVA with this problem. My solution is to remove the nipple between shots, making sure it is clear. After reloading, when I am on the firing line, I drop a bit of 4F powder from my pan charging flask into the drum before...

    Muzzle Loaders

It is a muzzleloader only in the sense that you are pouring loose powder into the chamber, pressing a ball on top, and igniting it with a percussion cap. BUT, it is still a popular black powder pistol.
