That kind of week...in a good way!

We are laughing with you, not at you. We have all been in a similar situation, whether we admit it or not. Such occurrences are always funnier in retrospect.

RE: CCI Four Wing Musket Caps #301 for 1861 Springfield

Musket caps usually have a bit more power, being bigger, and are easier to put on and remove from the nipple. I have nipples in both sizes for my favorite rifles, so that if I run out of one type, I can use the other. Beyond that, no real difference in how the rifle shoots.

I once thought the same thing about #11 caps. Turns out that first 1000 lasted less than a year.

I second the OP. I got an excellent patch knife from Two Feathers recently.

Ma Deuce Cleaning Rod for Range Rod

They work great. I have sections from two .30 GI rods that make a rod long enough for all of my BP rifles. The "T" handle helps a lot

    Bobby Hoyt's shop

Does anyone know if Bobby Hoyt can line a barrel? I have a .50 cal with a rough bore that I would like to bring down to about 36 cal.

What's going on with Dixie Gunworks

Quite difficult. First, the persons need to be able to read and write English. Then they need to know which addresses are within the USA, and which are not, such as New Mexico vs New Brunswick, and they can shunt the international orders to the area that covers customs and international postage.

    Primitive gun cover

That is what I do. Check the garage sales and thrift shops for wool blankets. Doesn't matter if they have stains, rips or tears. You can sew up the rips and tears and the stains add character. I picked up a wool blanket for $5 at a garage sale about 2 years ago, and made 4 VERY long rifle...

    “Must have” carving chisels

Just my opinion: 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" square, and gouge. Buy good quality, and toss in a really good quality fine sharpening stone.

    Grain size

I think the big difference is the surface area. Surface area affects how fast the powder burns. Look up Youtube for "dust explosion" to see examples. I think commercial powder is coated to reduce dust, and is therefore harder to crush to powder than home made. But I may be wrong.

    Hello Holy Black Shooters

I wish there were a similar source near me. There is supposed to be chert in the state, but it is extremely rare, and I have never found any. I think the closest flint is Texas.

    The g in ffg

I think it stands for Grain. Fine Grain, Fine-Fine Grain, Fine-Fine-Fine Grain, etc. But I may be wrong.
