I normally let the BLO (which I mix with a different % of Mineral Spirits depending on how its looking) darken the wood. I have seen VERY dramatic darkening of wood previously with just the BLO but, for whatever wood reason, it didn’t happen on one which is actually a refinish (just got done...- John Spartan

Nice! Currently refinishing two stocks (both walnut - one in BLO stage and the other prepped for stain) and already cleaned up all the saw dust. And thanks Scota for the nylon tip. Refinishing a finished gun stock…
Little update for those contemplating this endeavor. Started with a the stock that was BLO’ed very well (thanks for advice here) then had a light paste wax applied. 1) Per the internet I tried acetone for the wax and it did some removal but not much it seemed. No rumor. Pedersoli told me themselves they were making a Baker. Originally set for a 2022 release it was pushed back to 2023. They also said they had purchased an original to use in the design process. Course saying is not always doing so we’ll see. And hopefully not in the $2k+ price range.- John Spartan

The “heavy” smoothbore Bakers are usually imported from India. TRS, as mentioned above, sell a couple different models - if in stock. Pedersoli says they are bringing one out in 2023.
