    Veteran Arms…shipping refund?

Have placed two orders with Veteran Arms in the past weeks on recommendation here. First order: Bayonet, scabbard, and frog. Comes promptly but I was charged $26 shipping. Came in one box. Now their website says shipping cost is per item and if items can fit in one box excess shipping will be...

Price Increase coming for Pedersoli Firearms

The bottom line is the market will determine if a price increase works. While I am a Pedersoli fan I also acknowledge they are damn expensive but, for some of the military replicas, they are the only game in town. At least for me the product quality has always been top shelf to ease the...

    Traditional gun stock finish

I normally let the BLO (which I mix with a different % of Mineral Spirits depending on how its looking) darken the wood. I have seen VERY dramatic darkening of wood previously with just the BLO but, for whatever wood reason, it didn’t happen on one which is actually a refinish (just got done...

    Traditional gun stock finish

Nice! Currently refinishing two stocks (both walnut - one in BLO stage and the other prepped for stain) and already cleaned up all the saw dust. And thanks Scota for the nylon tip. I was just complaining this morning about the lint from rags/towels on my finish. Got to hit up the wife! Hopefully...

    Refinishing a finished gun stock…

Little update for those contemplating this endeavor. Started with a the stock that was BLO’ed very well (thanks for advice here) then had a light paste wax applied. 1) Per the internet I tried acetone for the wax and it did some removal but not much it seemed. What it did do is dry the wax out...

Anyone have a TRS Baker flintlock rifle?

All this Baker talk around here lately has me fired up. Planning on getting a Baker as the “last gun I’ll ever buy.” The question is which one - not that there are (surprisingly) a lot of Baker manufacturers. The only ones I am aware of are Indian imports (smoothbore), Pedersoli (tentatively...

    Request info on Baker rifles

No rumor. Pedersoli told me themselves they were making a Baker. Originally set for a 2022 release it was pushed back to 2023. They also said they had purchased an original to use in the design process. Course saying is not always doing so we’ll see. And hopefully not in the $2k+ price range.

    Request info on Baker rifles

The “heavy” smoothbore Bakers are usually imported from India. TRS, as mentioned above, sell a couple different models - if in stock. Pedersoli says they are bringing one out in 2023. Definitely going to get one. Waiting to see Pedersoli’s product (and cost) before I jump on TRS with a sometimes...

    Original Brown Bess. Nice pics.

Huzzah! The old memory wasn’t too bad.

    Original Brown Bess. Nice pics.

Think I got this one. There was a Colonel commanding a loyalist force in support of the British down in, I believe, Georgia. Apparently he was a friend of the king and thereby received a shipment of brand new muskets for his unit.

Having a flashback to my Mauser K98 days. Buyer beware! Well…thought the pics would be cool anyway. I guess as a primer on what not to buy!
