    Safe or naw

when in doubt toss it out. I wouldn't trust that as far as I could throw it! And that's what I would do with it.

    How do you prime?

I use this little horn with a do-hickey that drops 3 grains. I only pump once anymore is just a waste.

    cheek slapper

First of all, welcome to the forum. Well @akroguy beat me to it. As he says some guns just don't fit. I don't know what the resale value of your rifle is but a new one retails for $1k. In the long run you'd probably be happier with a different gun.

    Possibles bag, hard or soft?

I've had both. I started with a cheap soft bag which I didn't care for, so I decided to make my own out of some thick cow hide. I found it more accessible and allowed me to make a couple of compartments for my lube tin and patches. It's lasted some 35 years so far!

    Loading from the pouch?

I hope you didn't hurt yourself when the ramrod broke. A few nicknames have been bestowed upon people impaling themselves. The main thing about working with a shooting pouch is downsizing your components. I've never loaded from a bench only from a pouch, so I learned to keep it simple. I know I...

Can anyone tell me anything about this rifle?

Looks like an old CVA Kentucky rifle with a brass plate hiding the two-piece stock.

    Great Rendezvous

    Congratulations! Great shooting! :thumb:

    Best source...

The one thing I like about Track of the Wolf is you can request "flat flints without humps" and that's what you'll get.

    How old are ya?

    65. My Dad bought me a CVA Kentucky rifle kit when I was 13. I didn't get around to putting it together until I was 17. When I say put it together, I mean I just slapped it together. No sanding, staining or bluing, no nothing. It looked terrible. It wasn't until about 10 years later I actually...

    Priming powder for flintlock

2f will work just fine in the pan. Just don't use a lot! It may take a little experimentation for the amount needed. Start small.

Not enough actuation in T/C Hawken hammer?

What you can try is swap the hammer from one rifle to the other and see if that makes the change you require. If that works you can then search for the hammer you need.

Investarms Plains Pistol Half-**** Not Secure

I'm no expert but if you say so. I was not aware that the fly engaged the sear. On my double trigger rifle locks the fly just seems to swing free and not engage anything.

Investarms Plains Pistol Half-**** Not Secure

Hmmm. I have the Lyman Plains Pistol which is identical to the Investarms. It only has two clicks. If I thumb the hammer back from half **** to full **** and really try and come up just short of full **** it will sometimes then release all the way down to the nipple. But I really have to work at...

    How do you hold?

    That would be a "B" Bob @ 6 o'clock

    T/C Hawken Cougar?

Does the serial number begin with a "K" if so it's a kit gun.

Has anyone tried to make Wedge keys for barrels?

You can try this link and buy new wedges https://muzzle-loaders.com/products/investarm-gemmer-hawken-barrel-wedge#:~:text=The%20Investarm%E2%84%A2%20Gemmer%20Hawken%20Barrel%20Wedge%20or%20Barrel%20Key%20also

    Thoughts on traditions rocklocks

I have two Traditions flinters. One is about 35 years old and the other is about 15 years old. I haven't touched either lock. As long as I pick the touch hole before every shot, they fire fast and true. I also have a custom made flinter with large Siler lock. Not much difference as far as I'm...

    Track of the Wolf

Yeah, I know TOTW may be high on shipping, but I've been dealing with them since before the internet and they've never made a mistake with an order and always deliver in a few days. I guess I'm just used to them.....I mean this last order was made on Saturday shipped on Monday delivered on...
