    If you can find one, I recommend a Traditions Tennessee rifle. Comes in .50 cal. 24" barrel and only 6lbs. They are out of production but come up for sale every now and then.

    I use good old MAP (Murphy's-Alcohol-Peroxide) dispensed from this makes the patch pretty wet. I usually shoot trail walks so the patch doesn't sit on the powder for more than a few seconds. Never had an issue with this method.

    Patch knife and lubing

    I lube with this ,filled with MAP, then place the lubed section of patch material over the muzzle. Slightly start the ball then cut. Simple.
