Shoootin' a hog with a flintlock pistol

Kinda been tempted to try eating a calf lately !! A guys cows have gotten on the property and he can't figure out how to get them back, and I certainly can't ! I caught a second calf in a hog trap yesterday and they are cleaning up every kernel of corn they can find. I am surprised they haven't...

    Traditional Hunts

I've never understood why a state couldn't have a traditional primitive hunt. Most states are including the new zip gun inlines as well, and guys are out there hunting with scopes and whatever on them, with plastic saboted bullets, etc..... As far as I'm concerned the season should start out...

    Removing the clean out plug

I have always removed the plugs as it makes cleaning that area a lot more efficient. When replacing the plug, I always just coat it good with bore butter and never have a problem removing the plug afterward. If your are tight, take a screwdriver and grind the blade to fit the screw perfectly...

    gun works of Oregon

I've had one pistol they built for me probably 30 years ago, and it still shoots just fine. I shot in a match today, and any problems were mine, not the pistol. Out of a possible score of 50-5x, I managed a 49-3x. I still got beat by a guy that shot a 50-3x...but what the heck...I just keep at...

    SOLD Pedersoli LePage .44 caliber

I was getting something together to take to a gun show with me tomorrow, but decided I'd put it on here today....and if it doesn't sell right away , then I'll have to tote it with me at the gun show. The pistol is in very nice shape and shoots great. It has the single set trigger and with 20 gr...

Shoootin' a hog with a flintlock pistol

Still haven't had a hog wander by in a distance where I could have a chance with that pistol, but I'm still trying now and then.

How much Gun for Big Game? or How Little!

I've killed game with a variety of calilbers over the years, but I agree with former statements concerning using larger calibers. A guy might do just fine with a .45 for larger game, but for me anymore, I would be using my .62 with a rifled barrel. A larger caliber isn't going to do much more...

Putting food on the table with primitive weapons

About any animals a guy wants to hunt, can be taken with a muzzleloader. I mostly hunt hogs and deer and have taken lots of them with PRB's.

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

It should fire just fine as is, from what I can see....but if it were me, I think I would do a little grinding to start with. I would like to see a little better alinement, even if it would work without it....

Shoootin' a hog with a flintlock pistol

I was out sitting in my stand when the sun came up this morning, Still no hog came by, but I did have a pretty little doe wander by on a trail about 15 yards from me. Gotta have a hog out there one day.....

Shoootin' a hog with a flintlock pistol

I have actually shot hogs with a .40 and a .54 in percussion. I actually shot one with a pistol just like this one that I owned in the past. I traded for this one recently from a guy that got it from me some time back. I think I can pull it off again....it's just a matter of getting the hog...

Shoootin' a hog with a flintlock pistol

I was thinking this morning that it's been quite a while since I shot a hog with a flintlock pistol, so I loaded up this one with 35 gr. of 3f and a PRB. I'll start hunting using it tomorrow and we'll see how it plays out. I've shot hogs with percussion pistols occasionally but this pistol is a...
