Took my wife and Gdaughter for a walk today that had us passing a dairy farm smothered in crows, rooks and jackdaws! A quick word and the response was, "fill yer boots"!
So I dutifully returned and set up behind the farm using and old rusting tractor, I think its an old Ford Dexter.
I have been keen to have a proving session with the Beretta for months now and this was it.
I took 39 pre measured shot vials and the finest powder I have. 1oz of shot and around 60gn charges.
I put the decoys out close to me. 20yds. The birds were coming in whilst I put the netting up behind the tractor.
The gun got crusty quickly and I didn't bring an auxiliary rod so as I was stuck with the original rammer I was soon loading the thin cards with (not so) wonder lube to keep the fouling soft.

I made some clumsy misses but thankfully they were few and I did pull some nice shots off too. This gun fits me well and is efficient on low charges and loads.

I am pleased to report I had no misfires and no gas leaks via the breach cross screw come flash channel I sealed in winter.

This is the time of the year to make some good bags with plenty of young birds on the wing also with lockdown they have not been bothered much. These young birds come to the decoys well but in another month it will be different this is when decoying becomes an art to bring them in

PS take plenty of powder and shot next time :thumb:

You are right sir.
There was quite a few old birds too, that reassured me that the decoys were looking good Feltwad. I had a huge old crow today, never saw me pop up at 15yds 😊.
