    Goex Sold

I can't find any links anywhere either but I do know for a fact that for many, many years Goex has been the powder supplier to Estes. Maybe with Goex shutting down Estes has decided to take their powder supplier issue into their own control.

    Cleaning rod idea.

Both my Centermark Fusil de Chasse and Sitting Fox Northwest trade gun (20 ga./.62 caliber) are crowned.

    T/C Hawken Restoration.

If you sell that, you'll be sorry! They just don't make 'em like that any more. Change out those screws and keep it!

Trying to figure out which rifle is more hard to come by if I dont buy it

Photos would help but....50 caliber RIFLES are much more common than .62 caliber RIFLES, while a .62 caliber SMOOTHBORE is common. So it boils down to rifle vs smoothbore as to how scarce one is over the other. I would get the .62 caliber rifle if indeed it is a rifle not a smoothbore.

Tumbling round ball to smooth sprue cut

My experience has been that consistent weight can make a slight difference but sprue does not.

Excessive Fouling in my Cabela's .50 Hawken 1:48 twist

You 2Fg folks out there really need to switch to 3Fg, if you do you will never go back.

Sear Spring on the Blue Ridge Long Rifle

Sorry, maybe I misread their website. Me personally, if it was a part I really needed or wanted, I would probably pay the $44.00 considering how hard it is to get ANYTHING these days.

Sear Spring on the Blue Ridge Long Rifle

Also try www.vtigunparts.com and look at the Pedersoli Kentucky rifle parts...sear spring is 4.00 on there.

Sear Spring on the Blue Ridge Long Rifle

Try shop.davide-pedersoli.com I think the Kentucky sear spring is the same as what you need.

    Is vinegar bad or good?

White vinegar is great for removing rust, it's cheap and its reusable. Be VERY careful to keep it off any blued parts though because it will remove bluing so fast you won't believe it!

    3Fg in 20 Gauge?

3F is ALL I use in ALL my flintlocks, from my .45 calibers, thru my two 20 ga smoothbores right up to and including my Brown Bess. Brokennock just summed up all the reasons for using 3F.

Does black powder really cause rust ? I havent seen it

A LOT depends on where you live and what time of year. Here in Florida, in the summer if I don't do a real good job drying off after I take a shower, I start to rust myself!

    vent hole diameter

All of mine have liners and all are 1/16" some originals MUST have been a good bit larger however since they didn't have liners back in those days and I have read often of soldiers and frontier folks turning the gun on its side and tapping a couple times in order to prime the pan from the...

    N W Trade guns

I have a Sitting Fox NW Trade gun in 20ga/.62 caliber and I LOVE it. It's so light that the first time I picked it up I thought they must have used plastic for the stock! Seriously, it is the best handling, easiest pointing and most accurate smoothbore I have ever owned. I bought it from it's...

Ram Rod Length and End Pieces - Vintage Ohio Style Rifle

tenngun is absolutely right, guns with those style butt plates were never meant to be shoulder fired. You hold the butt into your bicep. I have a rifle with a similar butt plate and it works very well that way. No more uncomfortable than shoulder fired rifle.

    Brown Bess vs Fowler

I also have a Bess I enjoy shooting but honestly, I really love my OTHER TWO smoothbores even more. I have a Northwest Trade gun by Sitting Fox that is 20 ga/.62 caliber AND a Fusil de Chasse by Centermark that is also 20ga/.62 caliber. The lightest and easiest to carry and shoot off hand is...

Looking for recommendations - Pedersoli Brown Bess refinish

For best results you need to first strip off the clear finish then use a lightly wet (not soaking wet) towel placed over the dent, and "iron" back and forth over the towel with a hot steam iron. Works pretty well. From the looks of your stock I'm not sure I wouldn't just strip the glossy...
