    Finished my Flat Buffalo horn

Really like your horn, nice work and thanks for the inspiration by sharing with us. Question: Do y’all thin the horn walls to make it flatten evenly or just go with it as is?

    March 2022 Postal Match

I shot my Nachez Poor Boy last weekend, first time shooting a flintlock, and found I have a lot of practice to do! Only hit the paper once. Hoping to try again this weekend.

    Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle question

This is not relevant to the OP’s question but may be of interest. Here is the load chart from the original manual. Also of interest is that it talks about dry firing will flare the nipple to a point the cap will not fit. A small patch of leather or soft material should be placed in the hammer if...

Hey, time to show your first build!!

Here is my first 3 builds together. I just finished up the maple flintlock this week. I had purchased the wood at a very cheap price off the broker for something like 60 bucks for all three blanks, one each of walnut, cherry and maple to learn to carve on the different types of wood. As it...

    Curly walnut Browning mountain rifle

Now times 2! Turned out the guy had 2 of these and both are outstanding. I could not pass up the opportunity. Both of these mountain rifles were part of a “rifle set” all with the same run number and made with fancy wood.

    Curly walnut Browning mountain rifle

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the accessory kit that came with the rifle? I am missing the kit and would like to know what came in it.

    Curly walnut Browning mountain rifle

It’s my understanding that there were 1000 of the commemorative rifle made, but the mountain rifle was made for several years. I’m not sure how many of them are out there.

    Curly walnut Browning mountain rifle

As always, your comments are much appreciated Notchy Bob. I actually had been holding off on buying this rifle for better than a year because of the issues with unavailable parts and the history of breaking. That is the Biggest reason I hesitate to put it to use. A used rifle is more valuable...

Walnut half stock Built from a blank. CVA hawken barrel, CVA mountain rifle lock, trigger, patch box, thimbles. 1/4” cast off built in, finished with straight tru-oil, no stain. Learned a lot on this build. This was my first of three half stock blanks I bought to learn on. Total investment for...
