    I finally got my CVA 45cal mountain rifle gun working right and sighted in for this target. 55 grains fffg GOEX with a .015 pillow ticking patch under. .440 ball. Actually did better shootin southpaw! Fun target👏🏻👏🏻

    I would scrub the barrel real good and shoot it to see if it still hits where you aim, I would bet it is still in working order. If it is too far gone I would replace the barrel. They come up on the auction site often and can be had for under 100.00.

    It could be as simple as the lock bolt being too long and rubbing the hammer.

    I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t. You would just have to be very careful if you are trying to preserve the original finish.

    This is my first attempt at the contest . Shooting my first build which is a half stock using a CVA Hawken 54 cal barrel and CVA mountain lock, trigger and hardware. 75 grains of FFG GEOX .530 ball .015 pillow ticking.

    A TVM Leman standard kit is 850.00. A lot of the inletting is done (not complete) but leaves enough work to learn on. As said before, a Leman trade rifle is a great first project.

    Ignition woes

    I always lay a Kleenex or light leaf or something over the barrel when I pop a cap to clear the channel. If the Kleenex blows off the barrel its clear of obstructions. Obviously, if there is some obstruction it will not blow off the Kleenex. I have also had better luck with the hot shot nipple...

    SOLD WTS CVA Mountain Rifle

    This is a rare opportunity to own one of the the best rifles CVA ever made and made better by Mr. Hoyt. Good price for a lifetime of enjoyment to boot! I have too many builds already invested in to jump on this one. I’m sure someone will regret not jumping on it.
