I cleaned out a 54 tc hawken that was hanging on a wall for better than 20 years, worst bore I ever saw, cleaned it with evapo rust and she shoots plumb center, just like 20 years ago when I sold it to the guy. He passed on and I got it back but I dont think he ever cleaned it.
Shooting in a match today, I was useing tow wadding. Got a couple good smoulders and was wondering if it would work to soak it in something, maybe borax ,let it dry or would it hurt the barrel since borax might cause rusting, but as long as the guns cleaned afterwards would it matter?
