    Dale, A Gamo break barrel .22 , like one of the Gamo Whisper series is the answer to your problems. I have one and it is neighborhood quiet and kills squirrels up to 25 yards away with no problems. The are usually under $100 and many times you can find them on sale in the $70 range.

    This is what I use. I mix Ballistol or any kind of synthetic machine cutting oil ( this is from NAPA https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/WLD7651526?impressionRank=2) in an 8 to 1 ratio. It has been the best lube I have used for years.

    20 gns for a .32 is good for short range like 25 yards. If you are shooting at 50, I would start with .30 grains. BP shooting is always an experiment until you learn what the gun likes to eat.

    If a patch gets burned or torn, you will have a pattern and not a group. If they are reasonably close together, the patch is doing its job.

    Do you have any pitting in your bore? If you do, that is the problem.

    Are you using the nub of the short starter or the five inch rod? The proper way is to use the nub to seat the ball flush and then use the longer rod to push it down further. Then you take your ram rod and ram it home.

    I agree. Additionally, the front sight was not dovetailed but was a single cast piece that was silver soldered on. I modified several of these and Mississippi rifles for shooters at my club so they could shoot in beef shoots and have better accuracy.

    18 rounds out of my 1858 Remington Beals '58 is about all my old arthritic hands can take in one sitting. Then I get to spend an hour cleaning it. :D

    As said before, pure lead does not harden. It tests at 5 BHN and will do so forever if not alloyed. Search the web, the evidence is readily availalble.

    My rifles pretty much have their own requirements as far as swabbing and they all differ. One thing I have found to be true is don't swab .32 and .36 between shots as it is easy to dislodge enough crud to block the flash hole.

    I second this. The loading levers of these guns are cast and don't like too much pressure. I use a loading tool also.
