    Need to cut Dovetail...

If you use this jig, your hand tremor won't matter. I am in my seventies and have arthritis and hand shake and if I can do it, so can you. Get to it, time's a wasting. https://www.logcabinshop.com/catalog.php?path=185_19&product_id=26069

    With a liner.

    vent hole diameter

+1 for 1/16 inch and a liner. It makes for reliable ignition.

    Caplock squirrels

I wish more young Americans can see how much "freedom" people have in foreign countries. Maybe they would start rethinking their idea that socialism is a good thing.

Why not Pyrodex in a flintlock?

And you have a limitless supply of BP I suppose? :dunno:

What do you use to keeps nipples from seizing?

Copper anti seize has never let me down on nipples or choke tubes. John

    Travelers Swiss question

You are not counting the hazmat and shipping.

Condensation on muzzleloader barrel in season cabin.

If you are going to do that, wipe the rifle with a thin coat of Birchwood Casey's Barricade preserative and coat the bore with a coat of TOTW Mink Oil Tallow. The tallow won't interfere with loading so, when you want to shoot, you just have to load up and head out. This method has worked for...

Why not Pyrodex in a flintlock?

It is really like apples and oranges. Black Powder is an explosive with an ignition temperature of 350*. Pyrodex is Black Powder that has been treated with a coating that increases the ignition temperature to 740* thereby getting it classified as a propellant. Granted, if you grind the...

    New Sights for old eyes

You need to convince them to change the rules to allow access for people with disabilities. Yes, not being able to see the sights is a disability. At my club, we made different targets for people who have some sort of disability. It allows them to shoot but the rings are tighter to offset the...

    shorten, crown

Shame they didn't bother to get back to you. I have a Great Plains that has helped win quite a few medals but, like you, I find it too heavy these days. I will probably do the job my self some time in the Spring when it gets warmer.

OP, did you ever contact TOTW?

    Travelers Swiss question

It wouldn't surprise me if they were. After all, they are the ones who started the "all handguns had to be shipped second day air" and UPS shortly followed. Since UPS and FEDEX have a sort of monopoly on shipping handguns, you would think the FCC would step in since they do nothing different...

    Pyrodex in a Flintlock

Excellent advice on the use of the search engine. It should be a sticky on every forum I belong to.

    Flint/frizzen relationship?

That happens because the lock probably doesn't have a fly in it. Without a fly, if you adjust the sear too close, the hammer catches on the half ****. On cheap locks like that, you need to live with the extra creep in the trigger.

    Pyrodex in a Flintlock

You are correct but something may have too. More municipalities are putting too many regulations for storing and selling Black Powder and stores are dropping it because, with the cost of the regulation requirements, it no longer turns a profit. The other problem we have is the chokehold that...

    Pyrodex in a Flintlock

Did you order the Travelers stuff? I just checked the Swiss and they are out.

    Flint/frizzen relationship?

As one person mentioned, a napped flint will work better than a cut flint. As for the distance to the frizzen, I put mine up against it when closed with the **** at half **** and tighten the jaw. The flint should hit the frizzen about 1/3 of the way down in order to scrape enough steel for a...

Beef Tallow instead of Mutton for wonder wads???

Funny, I used to do that 40 years ago and totally forgot about it. :thumb:
