    Pedersoli Charles Moore sights

I too have a Charles Moore flinter and it too shoots high. I am playing with modifying Dixie sight number EP1375 (https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index/page/search?FullText=EP1735) It has a .270 dovetail and is .330 high. All this will need is to narrow the dovetail to fit the C.M. and file to...

Question about Traditions date of manufacture

Hi, I tried a couple of searches but didn't get lucky. Can someone tell me how to interpret Traditions dot matrix code to determine date of manufacture? I have a Crockett rifle and I am trying to figure out when it was made. TIA John

    Lyman interchange with Investarms ?

I have read on other muzzleloading forums that it takes quiet a bit of work to put a set trigger into a non set trigger rifle. Some of the items mentioned were 1, you need a fly in your lock, 2, you need a different trigger guard, 3, you have to do a lot of inletting for both the trigger and...

Investarms flintlock 50 cal. Flint question

You have to watch the length of the flint to insure it doesn't hit the pan. I have tried longer flints in my Lyman GPR 9 (same lock) and have had to grind them down so they didn't hit the pan. Now I only buy the TOTW recommended size.

    Bobby Hoyt Question

    Bobby Hoyt Question

Just got back from dropping barrel off at Bobby Hoyt's place. On the way back, we stopped at Fort Chambers and picked up some Swiss 2F, soft lead pipe a new Dixie catalog and some other odds and ends. You can sure tell you are in PA at Fort Chambers, all they have on the racks are flintlocks...

    Bobby Hoyt Question

I spoke to Bobby Hoyt and I am going to have a liner installed in my barrel. I am going to try and drop it off tomorrow and hopefully receive it sometime this summer. He said he currently has about a six week backlog.

    Bobby Hoyt Question

From what I can research, they had some QC issues in '91 and Lyman had to straighten it out. I don't know how many of these off beat barrels were made and I don't know if Lyman issued a recall at the time. Along with the twist being wrong, the machine marks in the grooves are unbelievable while...

45 cal Kentucky flintlock Pistol main spring

See if it is marked Jukar or Dikar on the barrel. If so, a Traditions spring will work. If you could take a picture of the markings on the barrel it would help greatly.

    .45 Pedersoli Kentucky shooting

Hi, where did you get the front sight? I have a Pedersoli Benjamin Moore pistol and the dovetail is the narrowest that I have ever seen. Unlike the OP's Kentucky, my Moore sight is too low and shoots about 10 inches above POA. I don't want to file down the rear sight until I am sure I can't...

    Bobby Hoyt Question

Well, they don't now and Investarms is still working on recall barrels and I ain't getting any younger. I'll give Mr Hoyt a call and see what his time frame is. Hawkeye 2 and Eric, thanks for your help. John

    Bobby Hoyt Question

Yes, I don't hunt anymore and mostly shoot round ball out of my guns. The barrel on this GPR was a freak from the start as it was a 1 in 48 twist with shallow rifling. It was also relieved at the muzzle for easy loading of Great Plains conicals. I have worked up only one load that is...

    Bobby Hoyt Question

I spoke to them yesterday and they won't make a barrel for the Lyman GPR. Maybe they don't want to tread on Investarms toes.

    Bobby Hoyt Question

We don't have any gunshops in MD or close by PA that stock any side hammers these days. Gunbroker prices for GPR's are in the $500 and up range and barrels are not to be found. I don't feel like buying another (I already have two) and then going through the trouble of selling one. I have...

    Bobby Hoyt Question

Hi, I have one of the unique Lyman GPR 54 percussions that has the 1 in 48 twist barrel. As most know, Investarms is behind in barrel production due to their recall. I was wondering if Bobby Hoyt sells Lyman barrels? I know I can give him a call but didn't want to bother him with a simple...

    Parker Hale .451 Volunteer.......should I?

I owned one of these back in the '80s. The bullet I used was a RCBS .457 500 gn mold and sized in two steps. Lubed it with a home made concoction of mineral oil, bees wax and mutton tallow. I tried #11 caps but went back to German musket caps for consistency.
