    A Fouling Test

If you have a shooting club(non primitive) you might try there. I belong to Canal Fulton club and they show up every so often. We shoot metallic sights only. Lots of guys shoot peep sights so they don't need one. Alot of primative clubs will let you use one in competition some don't. I've found...

    A Fouling Test

A neat little device made by merit optical fastens to your glasses with a suction cup gives you a appature to look through . The size is adjustable for the light present. When properly adjusted your sights will be clear again as is the target. Log Cabin had these for $65 last time I looked. Can...

    A Fouling Test

do you know what a breech scraper is? If you are goiing to shoot without wiping this should bee done every so often. Ive seeen buildups develop that have covered the touchhole causing ignition problems. A percussion gun magnifies the problem with the long flame channel. Myself I shoot mostly...

My Jim Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle is done

You need to tighten your group up a bit .If you are shooting bench with a green mountain barrel you should expect a tighter group. Check your patches for cutting? My green mt barrel will put 5 shots touching at 25 yds. Offhand. Not that I don't send one flying every once in a while.

    Black Powder clean up ??

Part number is the same but the new seems like TC13 Not too bad as a cleaner but sucks as a lube burns the patches. I think they bought the rights to TC 13 and added everso slight amount of the old formula for the smell. Their new container sucks too. There is a phone number on the containers...

    New Flint wallet/tool pouch

You run out of patching you can use some of the wallet. My wife made me a pair of pants from my trade gun patching. Some time later I ran out of patching. Now one leg is shorter than the other. Good idea.

    Small bore questions

I have shot .40 cal. for years at the moment I have 4 of them. I've found .395 or.400 ball works best in all of them. I use .015 pillow ticking with Hoppes 9+ for patch lube. Cut my patches at the barrel. A smaller ball with thick patch will shoot but you really need the ball filling into the...

    Patch Issue At The Range.

Give Hoppes 9+ a try easy to use and works great.couple of drops on the patch. Fouling stays soft and no burn thru. They changed their formula recently and the older formula is better (brown bottle black top) but the new formula seems to work. Still testing.

I'm already frustrated, and I've had the gun 30 minutes!

Flag down. Your snap on man. Best punches in the world. Their 1/16 punch is tough. They have excellent screw drivers but not hollow ground. Their bits for the magnetic tip screwdriver are . They have thin ones that will fit the screws found on most flintlocks.

    Disappointing Range Day

Chuck the nipple in a drill then use a file to make it smaller. Little bit at a time, checking fit as you go. Just do the sides not the end. I do it all the time for a perfect fit.

    Nipples plugging

I think mooman76 has the right idea. You patch and jag combination is too tight. Take your jag and chuck it in a drill. Put a file to the side and decrease the diameter of your jag. You want the patch slide over the powder residue then when you pull the ramrod the patch wads up on the jag and...
