Why the flare on swamped barrels?

I hunted with large caliber Jager length barrels for years trying most calibers up to .69. I had good eyes back then , and could see sights well. About 20 yrs. back , my favorite caliber for Pa. deer was .62. I quit using short barrel Jager length rifles due to eye problems , couldn't see...

    pennsylvania bear hunting

New name in Pa . is Pa. Blame Commission. Marcellis gas drilling has left the Commission flush w/ money. Some say to the detriment of hunter/ Blame Commission relations. Seems now that the Commission doesn't need hunting license money as bad as before Drilling funds , there might be less...

    BLOWN OUT PATCH'S

In my early years learning curve , I was shooting scratch built rifle w/ a round bottom groove Getz barrel in .50 cal. .In the early 1970's I was on my own as far as experience with almost no help when I got stuck w/a problem. I had some patch cutting issues , but was told to shoot the...

    Latest addition to the herd

In the early 1970's , these shotguns were still to be found . I owned a nice 20 ga. just like it. Paid $100 for it , just to study it. Sold it at a m/l shoot for a little profit , but I got from it what I wanted.

whats your favorite part of muzzleloading, what keeps you hooked?

What keeps me shooting m/loaders? My dear old Dad put a gun in my hands at six yrs. of age. He taught me how to cast the lead bullets for the old 32-20 , since there was no ammo for it. That was hard times in the coal regions , but we kept shootin'. By 1972 , modern guns became somewhat...

Here is What I Love About Muzzleloading

I just get no pleasure from modern guns any longer. Too expensive , too high recoil , you fire one shot , it becomes boring quickly. I can take any of my safe queens and shoot a group at 200 yds. , boring. Though I have little time just now to build or shoot m/l guns , old and sick , I still...
