    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Where I hunt in North Central Missouri, the greys are the dominant species. There are fox squirrels, too but not as many. In the northern Ozarks, almost all fox squirrels. We have tons of greys here in the burbs. Can't hunt those.

Thanks! I shot this one as far north as you can get in Missouri and not be in Iowa. :)

I hit her high in the shoulder. I usually try to hit a spot 2 inches above the elbow. This one was just above mid line and a couple inches further forward than I prefer. If you look closely, you can see the entry wound.

Thanks. Skinning and quartering is on the agenda today. The whole scene was almost comical. There were four in a tight group. The one I shot stepped into a good opening at 60 yards. At the shot, they all went bounding off in the same general direction, but were zigging and zagging. I...

    Success!

    Success!

I finished deer hunting this evening by filling my last tag with my flintlock T/C Hawken. I thought I missed when all four does took off at the shot. I couldn't tell which one I shot at due to the smoke. I went to where she was standing and could not find blood or hair so I followed the path...

    2023 Fall Squirrel Season...........

I've been hunting the muzzleloader deer season here this week, so of course the squirrels are running amuck. We predominately have grey squirrels here. I've seen a few fox squirrels also.

    Black powder or Pyrodex

I remember when Pyrodex first came out, but I cannot remember exactly why it was developed. I think it was for storage safety. The thing is, though, it was the first substitute on the market. As with any new product, the first to market just cannot get tested enough. Put it in the hands of...

Williams Peep Sights on T/C Hawken

I didn't know to order a front sight for my T/C Hawken. Fortunately I was able to sight it in by running the rear sight all the way down.

Williams Peep Sights on T/C Hawken

You only used one mounting screw? The best practice is to drill and tap the tang for the second screw and use both.

    Woodsrunner!

The range rod I bought from Kibler's had a white plastic protector already on it. Check the box, it may have fallen off.
