It's not speculation. When I was prostaff for cva I had this conversation with the people and he confirmed, the very first models were Douglas until the factory in Spain tooled up to build them there.
Now, after you load up.. pull the nipple and see if powder is under there. If not, could be anything from oil contamination to a blockage in the breech.

. That's the sweet spot!
Black powder doesn't burn efficiently enough for that to make a difference.
Blue lubed patches are most likely a tc or Thor bullets product.
Keep it simple, index on a patch or plain water. Most likely you are soaking your breech.
