    4F in the 1863

Makes sense. I have been using about eight grain as I do have a brass frame. I've got three f and I will probably go ahead and stick with that but the only reason I ask is I have almost a full pound of 4f and not much to do with it. Is it true that the Colt type brass frame is more susceptible...

    4F in the 1863

I know they say 10 grains of fff but I have heard multiple people discussing the use of ffff. It is of course a 31 caliber. I know my super companion which of course is 22 caliber recommends the ffff. So is there a specific caliber number where you really shouldn't go below fff?

T/C Renegade: Another “damaged in shipment” story…

I just had a piece of antique replica iron shipped by UPS and they notified me that my package was in the distribution center in the next county down and that I was free to click options if I wanted to come pick it up. No I don't want to come pick it up, that's what I paid you to do.

    Hello to all.

Left Ocala at the age of 16 in 96 and spent the next 16 years living in Tampa and moved here to DeSoto county in the spring of 2010. I'm even watching this small town of 8000 grow distressingly large.

Pawnshop find , what is it ??

We have those here in Southwest Florida along the Peace River valley. Most people say they got away from a high fence ranch during hurricane Charley in 2004. They are considered feral with no bag limit much like hogs. Many years ago I had hiked a good piece down the Peace River which is pretty...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Have had a nipple wrench on loan to me for some time from a friend and went ahead and ordered one so I can return his. I considered Amazon for the fast shipping and all of that but then I thought you know what..... Even if it takes longer and cost more I'm going to give my business to track of...

    Round ball and blood trails

I took a hog once with an 1858 with a round ball and about a 27 grain load from about 80 ft. It went high behind the shoulder passing through both lungs and I found the ball on the hide on the far side of a broadside shot. The only deformation to speak of was a slight indention on the top of...

That's good to know. I just wondered if something mechanically deficient was going on.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot my new 1863 pocket model. Accuracy was pretty horrible but it did indeed go bang all 4 times on the first Hammer strike . .323 rb from Wolf track and 4f Swiss 10 g. About 75% of an empty 9mm casing for a measure. The sprues on the rb are giant but after loading off the gun, hammering...

    1863 pocket model question

Recently acquired a brand new 1863, 31 caliber of course. ( My avatar picture in fact ) I'm pretty happy with it but it does something I don't believe I have ever seen my 1858 do. When the cylinder is removed on half cock and the hammer is drawn all the way back, the hand moves up into a...

    Pistol for edc?

I know that's what they recommend but unfortunately that's the only caps I haven't been able to lay hands on. Have used four other brands of number 11

    Pistol for edc?

Remind me of a South African jsambock ( probably not spelling it right...) It is a flexible club made from a rhino pizzle

    Pistol for edc?

My father has a saying that has always served me well, probably even better than a gun I might argue...." Don't start no sh*t and there won't be none ". A bit of mutual courtesy goes a long way in society. But I am in no way shape or form disowning the value of a gun either

    Pistol for edc?

I agree with you on every single point except one. My North American arms super companion will go click instead of bang easily half the time regardless of the brand of caps I have tried and how hard I seat them on the nipples. I hear I'm not the only one with that problem. I am pretty good...
