I’ll try to take a photo of the barrel band gap for clarity

    Bedding a Whitworth rifle video

Hi mate, The barrel bands are pretty tight but when you look down along the length of the barrel from the muzzle you should be able to see glimpses of light from the space between the barrel bands and the barrel, sort of on the “shoulders “ of the bands.

    Bedding a Whitworth rifle video

Howdy mate. I had to take the barrel out of the stock to put water pump grease in the barrel channel and then replaced it as carefully as I could according to Kelvin’s instructions. I think the procedure helped a bit but it didn’t improve accuracy a huge amount. I’m still struggling to develop...

Is sizing cylindrical bullets for a Whitworth redundant?

Thank you. That’s what I was thinking would happen. Unnecessary effort.

How to tell if your bullet lube is good?

Hello and I hope everyone is doing well. I’ve just started using grease-groove bullets in my Whitworth rifle, and my results seem promising and worth fine tuning a load for. However I’ve only ever used paper patched bullets in it, and I don’t lubricate the paper. My current lubricant for the...

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

Thank you for your vote of confidence. I’ve actually been told a very similar thing recently. (Inexpensive eBay endoscopes are not suitable for gunsmithing).

Looking for a Decent Spotting Scope.

Athlon Talos. Excellent glass for the price point. Waterproof, fog proof, rubberised body. I can clearly see .223 holes at 200 meters.

    Bedding a Whitworth rifle video

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well. I’m posting here a short video about my Parker-Hale Whitworth being bedded in the traditional manner of paper and shellac. The gentleman that did the job knows what he is about and has bedded the rifles of many Australian match winners. His name is Kelvin...

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

Thank you for your help. My bore camera is not capable of side views but I certainly see how useful it is. I may have to order that Big 45 stuff from overseas, I’ve never seen it in Australia.

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

It’s not a patch round ball rifle. It’s a Victorian era target rifle using paper patched conicals.

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

I appreciate everyone’s advice. Thank you.

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

Thank you for your reply. Actually the rifle is easy to load. I wipe between shots to keep the fouling consistent and the patches don’t snag on anything and the weight of the ramrod pushes the projectile down. As far as accuracy goes, so far I haven’t seen anything bad that I can’t attribute to...

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well. I just got a borescope and I ran it down my Parker-Hale Whitworth barrel. I’ve had this rifle for about 10 months and I always clean it to a military standard, as I do all my firearms. It was made in 1978 and I have no idea how many homes it has had. When I...

Does regularly attaching and removing a tang sight affect its accuracy?

Thank you for your consideration. I don’t keep it affixed because it won’t lay flat enough to avoid getting snagged on its surroundings, and it doesn’t fit in the gun safe very well. It seems that in my endeavour to protect the sight from damage I am being counter-productive with regard to its...

Does regularly attaching and removing a tang sight affect its accuracy?

I keep my tang sight base affixed to the stock but I don’t fit the sight staff until I need it and when I’m done I remove it again. I keep the vernier scale locked down, so it can’t move. But I was wondering if regularly fixing and detaching it from the base will affect its vertical and...

I’m happy to help. I have certainly benefitted from those who are more knowledgeable than me. Broadarrow is one of my mentors. I bought a LEM mould from Blackpool UK. It’s a cylindrical with a cupped base and I’m getting good results with it. His name is Glenn McQuire. His moulds are quality...
