    Hollow points

Nope. Its all in the materials and or treatment of same. The $64 issue is a combination of expansion and penetration. Also application. If its SD then there is a need not to over penetrate and created a possible hit to an innocent person. For game (assuming something Deer size and...

    Custom Revolvers

Me? I am just watching and learned something I had not a clue on. Granted on the history of the BP revolvers I am a rank amateur. Some of the stuff I have read in history books and fiction, but none of it went into detail. The only reason I knew about the Lewis and Clark pneumatic rifle...

$30 For Remington #10s The New Normal?

They can pay the Haz and still charge $30. My sources says its what it takes to get the mfg and pay the Haz and some profit.

    new 3rd dragoon

That is funny. I wanted the Walker because it was heavy. Granted I shoot mostly from a rest. But I love the heft of it.

Pietta 1858 New Army Revolver .44 Cal 8" barrel

I tried it. Time spent and my failure rate were both bad. Its supposed to be fun not an endless misery. Grateful I can buy Caps.

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

When people asked about my carry 41 magnum I told them it was to shoot myself if I encountered a grizzly (brown) bear! I had zero expectations of it for bear SD. Noise maker yes, snipe a bear if I had to if I could get up in a tree (if it would not leave) yes. As noted with the 357...

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

The OP offered a different title and that is what this should be, his alternative title. As for the Grizzly Bear encounter, we do not know where the two shots penetrated the bear. But that is the goal of a shot, do disabling damage. If you blow a Grizzly bear shoulder out and all it...

Wads Vs Lube Vs Paper Cartridges

I have yet to see anything definitive or general agreement on the various loading practices. Wads and lube over ball are a bore cleaning aspect. Getting the ball further forward may help accuracy so its possible a wads assists that.

$30 For Remington #10s The New Normal?

Only in the lower 48. We just do not have the breadth of BP shooting up here for caps to show up in other places. I can just buy the over priced caps or spend a lot of time looking in venues that don't have them anyway.

    1860 Pietta Army help

You should be able to drive the wedge back to the spring lip. That is going to determine any issue to start with, heavy whacks or metal needed and ...... After that, assuming the wedge moved ok at the end of the travel, then a whack with your mallet with a bias to the spring lip should...

    Traveling with pistol and powder

The issue is laws are worthless if enforced by corrupted individuals. I had to fly to the Philippines to do some work for my company. I had parts and tools. My manager asked me what I would do if I got called on it by Airport customs. Abandon them. We had a tech get shook down on an...

Trying to understand this “short arbor” on Uberti revolvers

Yea, he was more than generous in explaining the ROA bolt issue and how to correct it. I had got the idea from another of his posts, but the amount I had to take off two ROA, ungh. Nothing I have seen him present and share was wrong. We are beyond fortunate to have him here as well as...

$30 For Remington #10s The New Normal?

Well, you might consider that not everyone is in the same situation. Haz to Alaska is something like $300, if you can find someone that even does it. So, my local dealer had RWS caps and they were 20 Cents a piece. Yea that sucks. So does trying to make your own caps. Time...

    Traveling with pistol and powder

I have been to Puerto Rico. Some fantastic people, more so outside the Cities where they were uniformly nice despite their poverty. This is not directed so much at the OP as people in general. Why anyone would even consider carry anything of any value let alone a gun into that...

    ASM 1847 Whitneyville Walker value?

How many machinists would even take a fiddly job like that let alone on a gun? Gun fixers yes, professional hobbyists maybe, regular machinist? They would laugh you out of the shop. Sure they can do it, but they won't.

    Uberti deceiving arbor fit

Thanks Mike And others need to keep in mind, only Uberti offers a 47 Walker. So if you want one of those you have to deal with it as is. I wanted one and knew what I was getting into thanks to the group and 45D specifically.
