    Seen on ebay

I don't know the name of the gun but side pin ignition system variation maybe.

Clean percussion revolver during shooting session-increased misfires as session goes on

I think what you have is normal. I have run a few extended shoots on one gun and pretty much the same. I carry a couple small drill bits to clean out the cones as hey have an edge that will cut crud a bit vs the smooth tools. I also carry Carbon Killer 2000 and a rag as well as patches so...

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

Bottom line is just snug it down, its how they are intended to function. For for lug nuts, the only time I horsed on any was for the test, it was a pass or fail and I was making sure I passed.

    Oval Bolt Stops

I am curious if I am missing something. That seems to say normal aka rectangular and not Oval per a Liberty taken by Uberti. The 2023 47 Walker I have has what I would call an Oval Bolt Stop. Now its an elongated Oval but its not a rectangle for sure. The picture of the original seems...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Nothing Dogmatic about it. Just the facts. Perhaps rather than a passive aggressive you can list some facts? I am a decent shot, I was pretty good with a pistol when I was younger. 120 yards with a pistol is a lob shot and no one no matter how skilled is going to make that shot...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

None of which has anything to do with Sharpshooting a BP pistol at 120 yards. Its a pistol, it matter not what the caliber is. Deadly at 50 yards I can buy. At 120 yards its nothing more than a guess

Caps, Good New and Bad News

Well I have a solid source of caps now. Yipee. Bad news? $50 for 250. I got a tin of 100 for $18 the other day as a buffer. But they have plenty of the $50 tins (plastic). So yea they are way too expensive but it will do me until the supply increases and price comes down (do not...

    chamber sealant

Sadly that is a negative and not proof of anything other than you put grease over the balls. Urban legends existed before the Internet, though the internet sure can spread em far and fast. I would hope you actually read the comments though it appears not. Read the post about the testing...

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

Back in my 20s I took the practical test for Trooper/Fish and game position. One test was to put a tire on a car and the lugs had to meet a torque spec, the idea being it does you no good to change your tire and then have it fall off. Now I was like 195 lbs of pure muscle. No problem...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Well you got it right as you were doing wind and range adjustments at the same time. So yea, given enough shots you can walk it in. Note I am not saying it would not hurt a lot to get hit with any bullet at 120 yards. Wounded, killed or just smacked hard. What I am saying is you...

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

A lot of work that has no purpose. Its a fix (if you want to call it that) looking for a problem. I mean seriously. Its not needed. Fun to discuss why but its not needed.

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

Its a fun subject but as noted, none needed and it was and is not designed to need it. Not something you carry in you possible bag! Torque wrenches did not exist when they designed these guns (yea you could apply it to today's threads and do so but..;..). As an aside and one I found...

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

Ok, this is truly in my Wheelhouse (house joke as we had a lady visit who is a Captain on a dredge and in her Wheelhouse is true!) Ok, the most accurate torque is a lubed fastener (that is what we call nuts and bolts). Its purpose is to create a clamping force. A cone is not clamping...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

This needs to be put in perspective. At 120 yard with a Cap and Ball or any pistol, its a lob shot. Its not a sharpshooter shot. Sharpshooters did not shoot their targets with pistols, they shot them with a rifled gun and depending on what era and whose side etc etc etc. So, yes...

    chamber sealant

I go with a lead seal. If you want to put a treated wad behind the bullet and that will help with the fouling issue. I clean with hot water when I get home (front of the 47 walker, Cylinders all go in, I use a brass brsuh up the ROA bore to clean out, ie I don't soak the operating...

    Ami San Paolo pistols

And that fills in things. The ASP I have needs to be at 15 yards and has like 6 inch groups (if you can call 6 inches a group) Still a nice gun and I would take a chance on one for the right price.

    #10 Caps

Hope all can grab, no Haz to AK, free or paid for (well you can but hundreds of bucks) sigh.

    Ami San Paolo pistols

My wife bought a 58 NMA in 76, she gave it to me maybe 10 years ago. This last year I could not stand it anymore and got setup to shoot it. I had sworn off BP pistols back in about the same year as they said to put Crisco over the bullet and what an awful mess. Whatever I had bought...

Trying to understand this “short arbor” on Uberti revolvers

Yep. For some reason my brain does not get the picture. But I don't know how a cell phone works either. It just does. So I can take the idea and while not as tight as Mike does, I can get it a whole lot tighter. I suspect for my purposes its good as I am not doing more than 850 fps...
