Do you display your flintlock or other guns in your home

I love my ML guns, but I also like to see them ... all of them ... every day. Mine have never lived in a dark hole [safe] and will not. I am 92 YO and don't plan to worry about guns or any material things. I do keep one loaded gun near my bedside to protect my wife and myself. Just my 1/2...

Can you guys school me on grades of Hawkens? Quality, value, etc.

I guess it reflects what is popular where you live. Here in Eastern Oklahoma, I have purchased three, hardly used, Investarm Hawken style [plains rifles] marked with different importers] for $200 or less. In South Texas, I bought a Lyman GPR kit for $135 [Lock disassembled]. All were found in...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Very interesting thread. I often shot the head off of a grouse at 15 feet or so [when I was much younger] in Idaho. Missed more than I hit, however. Polecat 🦨 Edit: Lyman 1858 Remington

I agree, but once in a while a Uberti built Santa Fe Hawkin or a Log Cabin shop [both Uberti] comes up in the same price range. I have a Santa Fe and a Lyman. I think the Uberti made guns are a bit more "Hawkenish." Dale

You are no fool. I have given away nine ML guns recently, some worth $550 to $750. Enjoy making people happy. That's far more enjoyable than $$$$ 🦨 Polecat

Need advice on collection of 4 unopened 1970s kits I just purchased

CVAs were all bad? My deceased first wife won a fairly large shoot in Arizona many years ago. She used a CVA Frontier rifle shooting against high end rifles, some custom made. I still have that rifle, and my current sweetie loves it,. Different strokes for different folks. Polecat 🦨...

Too many options for rifle build

Old time wooden boat builders had an easy chair located near the boat. They spent more time there than building. I would call that the planning chair. BTW; i have built a few boats and several ML guns. Try it, you'll like it. Dale

I am an idiot. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

Sounds as if you have shooting friends, Give the gun to one you think might get the job done. Agree that he can either then buy the gun for one half of value or sell it back to you for that same price. No more frustration and that is worth the loss. Polecat

Took another look at a kit I need to build but procrastination took over. BTW, I have a fair workshop, but usually do kits on my lap ... for 60years or so, just like doing it that way. Dale
