    Made a Lyman pouch

I drew it on some heavy paper, a target actually, then traced it onto the leather and cut it out from there. As I said earlier, I wasn’t happy with the rounded corners I was getting, when I cut the leather it just didn’t look right. I’m going to try again with a slightly heavier leather, and see...

    Made a Lyman pouch

After a couple attempts and completely buggered up corners I decided to just make a straight edge on the corners.

    Made a Lyman pouch

After seeing a few posts showing the Lyman pouch, I thought I would try my hand at making one. It measures 8x6 with a divider inside.

Federal smoothbores at Gettysburg, Jul. 1863

I remember reading years back, and for the life of me I cant remember where, that General Meaghers was a great lover of the smoothbore. He is credited with saying, two rounds of buck and ball, fix bayonets and have at them, boys! I wish I could find the source of that

    carrying loose shot

Shot gets carried in paper tubes. I have been using the skychief load lately so the cards are in a tin and the oily wads are in an old prescription container. The tubes are placed in the bore and the top ripped off and the card goes over it.

    Sky Chief Tin

I ended up putting the oils soaked wads in a prescription pill jar. The other jar was leaking oil. I also keep a rag in the bag, cause loading those wads gets messy.

    Building a Powder Horn

Sorry for the late reply Wonky, the band on the neck is part of the horn. It had a pretty thick body when I started it. Files, and scraping shaped it Kevin

    Lining a shooting bag.

I have a question for the bag makers, I’ve always made plain shooting bags for myself and some friends, but I want to try my hand at making a shooting bag lined with pillow ticking. Do you glue the fabric to the leather? Or no? I was thinking maybe some contact cement? Thanks, Kevin

A rifle that needs swabbed after every shot on a woodswalk??

The haversack hanging on my left hip has two plastic bags in it. One has clean patches the other for dirty patches. Simple. And it keeps the litter off the range

    Building a Powder Horn

This little horn has been sitting in pieces for quite some time now. I finally got motivated to finish it up. The plug was stained and set with wood pegs. The body was stained with fiebings leather dye.

Can you get 3 aimed shots a minute?

The NSSA is truly a great organization. I loved the few years I had with the 69th. Troubles at home caused me to quit, but I remember my time there very fondly Kevin

Question/Survey about setting up a "Small Game" Shoot

Match director makes the rules. As long as conditions are the same for all shooters then caliber matters not. The only thing to worry about is possible damage to steel targets. Thats why at our shoots in lines are not allowed unless they can shoot a reduced load and lead bullet. Just a quick...
