How do I get the smell out?

I got a roll of jute strapping to repair my haversack. I forgot that jute smells like oil So I’m trying to get rid of the odor I’ve had it sitting outside for a few days but the odor is still there. Would it be possible to throw it in the washing machine? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks...

    Barry Lyndon movie fakery.

I’ll add to the misery. A lot of folks credit the daniel boone disney series as the reason for the popularity of muzzleloaders. Then I found this ….

It’s a great day to be in the woods!

4 weeks ago, I had a heart attack. The dr told my family I should not be here. Today I went squirrel hunting. No game sighted, but I don’t care. I am grateful for the chance to go.

Overshot card versus over powder card

I have a .625 punch and made over shot cards from primer tray covers. After trying all manner of set ups I have found that powder/cornmeal/shot and one card to cover it all works best in my gun. One thing seems certain about shot loads and smoothbores and that is that every gun is different

    Too much powder?

Cornmeal does leave a slightly sweet smell after the shot. Loading for me is as follows Powder comes from my horn. Cornmeal and shot charge come from paper tubes kept in my bag. Cm goes on top of the powder charge. The shot gets dumped on too of that then the card holds it all in place. Simple...

    Too much powder?

Its funny how a few extra feet can make such a difference! I started out at 25 yards as stated, and noticed there was always- no matter what combination of card, wad, buffer, or powder- there was always a hole in the middle. So one day my brain said try it at 20 yards and see what happens….would...

A very good friend whom I have deer hunted with for while now got into bp hunting with a flint a few years back. Before that he hunted with- gasp! An inline…..the horror All joking aside he said to me as we walked out of the woods one day, theres something about carrying a flintlock in the...

    Too much powder?

My best results were at 20 yards I started at 25 but things were just too spread out. So I moved in to 20 and the patterns were much better Kevin

    Too much powder?

I have been spending a fair amount of time trying to work out a good shot load for my smoothbore. Both are .62 one a fowler the other a shortened Fusil. I have tried pretty much every loading technique found on this site. I have settled on 85 gr 2f cornmeal buffer and 90 gr of #6 shot covered...
