Working on my horn for my SMR

Started working the SMR's dedicated powder horn. It's going to be a plain and simple horn. Nothing fancy just a poor old southern mountain guys horn not none of those rich city folk horns.

Almost finished. Just needs powder horn straps.

Worked more on the Southern Mountain Shot bag. I need to fabricate the powder horn straps. Trim the bag gusset and attach the strap I have completed. Here are a couple photos of the bag.

Stitching away on the Southern Mountain bag today. Took a break for lunch now back at it!

Well after working on my southern mountain shot bag I found my order of assembly led a bit to be desired. So I ordered more leather and started over on the pouch. I have a new take on the assembly order and made good progress on the new pouch. The learning curve has been steep.

Joann's canceled my order for drill cloth yesterday. Looks like it is no stock right now.😪

Grabbed up a yard of red mattress ticking and a yard and a half of blue pillow ticking today

Finished stitching and turned pouch body today.

I was thinking that combination might be good for my Shooting bag as a leather conditioner. Any thoughts on this combination?

Worked on the Southern bag after dinner. I decided to turn the bag. I got everything set up welt, front, and back all lined up basted together after holes pre punched. Took about an hour. Threaded up a couple of needles started my first stitch. Going back to the original hole to reinforce the...

Stitched the patch knife sheath on the back panel of my shooting bag.

Worked some more on my Southern Shot bag yesterday. Decided to move the small pocket to the front panel in the bag instead of the rear. There is just to much going on on the rear panel with straps and knife sheath.

I also learned today that vinagroon dyed leather will turn a carbon blade rusty pretty turn fast. I guess if it hasn't aged out long enough. Probably going to learn another lesson as all my leather is taking a bath in baking soda and water. Will see about that in a couple of hours.

Backed up and punted today on the Southern Shot Bag. Didn't quite think through the execution of my assembly process of operation. Anyhow I had to make a new back panel and rethink my order of assembly.... I have a brand new plan now. I guess learning from ones mistakes is a lesson well learned!

I'm 14.75 l.o.p. so 15 wouldn't be to much of a stretch but I'm not you. I wish my Kibler SMR had a bit more l.o.p.
