    Jug Choke Info

I did a search just now on my I phone. Typed in Jug Choke. There was a post from years back on American Longrifles forum. Looked like maybe the info you seek may be somewhere in those series of posts. I’m not a machinist so I sent mine out for the work. I respect your wanting to do it yourself...

    .50 cal Kibler Colonial smoothbore

The .410 with the TSS shot and the right choke can kill about twice as far as a .410 lead load. If you pattern your gun it will tell you the range in which it will get the job done. Lots of variables shooting shot loads, just gotta find the one that you and your gun like. As mentioned the...

    Corn Meal

Short answer, yes, for me it did. Now 50% better...not sure about that one.

    Different patch thickness?

The ring at the ball to bore contact was good. No tearing or burn through. I was using a damp patch 1-4 ballistol/water for lube. Dipped then run through my fingers to ring excess. The fraying pretty well made it to the contact ring. The patches were pre cut Maine shooting supply? 50-58 cal. I’m...

    Different patch thickness?

I didn’t think about polishing the muzzle with the thumb suggestion but I will do it. As far as the wad goes, I did shoot a 3 shot string using a 20 ga wonder wad as an over powered wad along with the.020 patch. My problem is, I didn’t go out and collect just that string of patches. I will...

    Different patch thickness?

When I inspected the .015 patch it was definitely torn up. The .020 patch had a definite clean center and I could clearly see the inprint/outline of the ball. The edges were frayed evenly all around. Maybe the .020 arne't as bad as I first thought? I wish I would have saved them to post a picture.

    Different patch thickness?

Yes. I'm interested in the type of material. I've always bought pre-cut patches. I've read about drill cloth, pillow ticking ect. I was hoping that someone would know of a particular cloth in the store that I should be looking for? I've got my measuring instruments handy and a fabric store not...

    Different patch thickness?

Picture of the 6 shot group using the.020 patch combo. 3 with an over powder wad and 3 just the patch. 50 yards.

    Different patch thickness?

I was shooting my new to me 62 cal under hammer rifle today and started out with a .015 pillow ticking patch and began shooting patterns not groups. Patch was badly shredded. I moved up to a .020 cotton patch and the patterns became decent groups. The patches were intact but badly frayed around...

Kibler provided his name and information to me a couple weeks ago. Haven’t called him yet.

    Looking for conical sizing advice

That "I" bullet shoots great in 1-48 twist. When you order it specify the pure lead. If you are sure about the .542 bore measurement, Order it at .542 and select the + tolerance. That way it will be cut to drop a bullet at .542 or just slightly (.543-44) larger. Should not need a sizer that way...

    Jug choke patterns.

Not a 20 ga but a 12. Tried a corn meal load sequence just to see. 12 ga jug choke full by Caywood. 70 grains of Swiss FFG followed by a 12ga 1/8” lubed wool wad, 60 grains of corn meal, 1 1/8 oz #6 copper plated shot topped with a over shot card. Just 2 shots after a quick turkey hunt. 18 and...
