I am building a 10-bore New England fowler and am going to jug choke the barrel. My question is what angle/taper should I cut on the breech and muzzle ends of the jugged section? I am thinking that it should taper at about 0.030" per linear inch of barrel, but that is purely a guess.

Well, most of us here are not machinists, so the specifics evade us. That’s why I suggested letting someone els do it.
Again, I’d suggest contacting someone who knows how,
There are several recommendations on those who do jug choking.
Lowell Tennyson, Bobby Hoyt, many more.

I did a search just now on my I phone. Typed in Jug Choke. There was a post from years back on American Longrifles forum. Looked like maybe the info you seek may be somewhere in those series of posts. I’m not a machinist so I sent mine out for the work. I respect your wanting to do it yourself. Hope this leads you in the right direction.
