    Cornmeal Grouse

That won’t be legal here until Sept 15th. I have to double check the regs. We come across Blues occasionally, but they are usually at higher elevations than where I am typically. Ruffs and mushrooms are the main in early September. Kings and later silvers will be in the river, bear, deer and...

    Cornmeal Grouse

Terrible reception tonight. I’ve been trying to load pictures for an hour. I think it keeps timing out.

    Cornmeal Grouse

My son and I tested some cornmeal recipes today. Hopefully, my depiction of Grouse isn’t too subjective. First shot was my normal load: 65 grains 3f, shot card, 1 1/8 oz #6 with another shot card at 20 yards. Second was the same powder load, 65gr of cornmeal, 1 1/8 oz # 6 and a card. Third...

    What's up with Flints?...

Go on YouTube and look at “Muzzleloading TV.” Bob has lots of great videos and the same topic search will also help you find what you need. Basically, any small horizontal edge that chips away at the leading edge will help you. I’ve used the obligatory “hammer,” a screwdriver, pocket knife and...

I know nothing, but I’d love that to be true and repeatable.

    What's up with Flints?...

I had a flint in my Fowler that came with it as purchased. It was so white, I wondered if it could be agate. I messaged the seller for an indefinite answer. That flint lasted a year. When it finally needed some attention, I was completely caught off guard. It was so reliable, the idea wasn’t...

    .600 Lead Bullet - Smoothbore

I fought with my both of my smoothbores and tried every possible combination I could come up with. All different patch thicknesses and powder charges and wads and oils and etc. I was pretty much resigned to the idea that they’d shoot shot only. One day, I felt lazy and just wanted to pull the...

    Touch Hole Picks!

That is a great tool. How do you carry it without getting impaled tho? *nevermind. The last picture was slow to load at the cabin. Sorry

    Mineral oil and Vasilene.

My go-to is bear grease and bees wax 50/50. I also have mink. No vegetable oil for me thanks. This forum is a bizarre combination of ill-tempered know it alls and some genuine people that seem to enjoy the sport and contribute.
