Nearly blended in. Top front of the drum needs some blending. The tang extends over the lock, it will be tapered and cleared for the hammer. Also need to bend the tang to match the stock

    Conical for bull elk

The 345 is now a 415 grain, didn't like the 345. The key to getting them to shoot is finding the right diameter. They need a snug fit all the way down, with some good lube. I like a bit harder lead, maybe 40 to 1. Killed a squirrel at 75 yards with the 450 using a 1-28 twist. The 415 works well...

    Neat underhammer

If it doesn't have a half cock, the ram rod would work as one.

I made a solid drum for my Short Virginia rifle. I need to finish the hooked breech. I just am not fond of screw-in drums. It is cross drilled and coned, ready for the nipple thread.

https://rjrenner.blogspot.com/p/tapered-paper-cartridges.html Eight seconds to reload and shoot, even figuring 10, that is 6 a minute.

    Chambers English gentlemans Sporting Rifle

If you are horseback hunting, shorter rifles are nice. The bigger the bore, the lighter the rifle. I like big bores, you can load them up or down.

Unusual (to me) Bill Large barreled rifle

I like the round tapered and flared barrel with no full under rib.

My rifle project has just earned a name....

One quiet calm mourning, I touched of my 12 bore rifle! It sounded like rolling thunder thru the woods, hence the name "Ole Thunder" came to be. None of my other guns have names.

Guns will name them selves, if they want one. Just be patient!

    Cow Elk Load

When I was a youngster, if you had a 12 ga smooth bore that would put 5 shots into a 7" group at 100 yds, you had a true deer killer. We hunted thick cover and never shot over 75 yds. The same applies to elk, my advice is to think like a bow hunter. Now my rifled 12 bore will shoot 3 shots...
