    Musket nipple conversion

The musket nipples work well with fat fingers.

    Current percussion cap source

5000 musket caps at Graff's went from $389 to $460. WHY? Plus tax, shipping and hazmat.

Provisional hole in barrel is off

I would only use the previous stated fix if you were getting paid to fix it by the hour! Just braze the hole and move it would be the easiest fix.

Provisional hole in barrel is off

That is not good, missed that. Cut off the end and shorten and reattach end of the cap.

Provisional hole in barrel is off

Like Bruce HH used on his Mule Ear project. Only in between the two. Do you understand?

Provisional hole in barrel is off

Clear as mud! Add a brass end cap spacer. 3/32 or 1/8".......what ever thickness to fill the gap. Sorry Phil.

Provisional hole in barrel is off

Just add a brass or dark woods spacer between the two. Epoxy and pin.

    Fouling Shot

I did a test at 100 yds. Each day for five days, I shot one clean and one fowled. I had two groups, the clean was 7"s left of center. This is what worked for me. After loading the clean first ball, I swabbed the bore with Wonder Lube. Thick and messy amount. When loaded for hunting, This...

    Barrel Twist help 58 cal

The TC Hawken in not a friendly big bore stock design. The thin curved butt plate will not be your friend.

    Barrel Twist help 58 cal

My latest 58 has a 1-90 twist. This is only a hunting gun made for gobs of powder. But you should shoot harder balls. Close range a high speed soft round ball will flatted like a quarter.

Thompson Center Hawken hurts my face

When shooting off a bench, you may be crowding over the top. I have found the best way to shoot guns that kick off a bench is to kneel, keeping your back straight.

    English Style Match Rifle

Mulemauler, have you thought about opening up the lock to fit a flash cup? It would help keep the 'crud' from trying to get under the lock, and keep the flash area cleaner. Just a thought.
