    Nothing fancy powder measure

Made a 60 and 70 grain. The 70 has that handy little burr right at my pour spout. It hooks the inside of the barrel. Makes missing the bore harder 😁 I roll 220 grit around a sharpie to smooth the inside. Powder seems to come out much better when the ID is smooth.

    Assembly pins

Thanks Eric. I assumed as much. But, don't want to make a silly mistake on this rifle.

    looking for fiber optic sights

I have Williams fire sights on my TC Hawken. Easy as pie to install. I ended up putting a peep on and left the front alone. Only because my eye sight is headed south fast. The Williams worked for several years and deer before I replaced the rear.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I've been filing, sanding, buffing and polishing Kibler bronze for 3 nights straight. I'm very particular and it takes me forever to get a single piece done. I'm nearing the end of my bronze work. Next up, readying the barrel for a bluing treatment.

    Thank you for the reply.

    Assembly pins

Morning gun builders I have a question on handling the pins holding a rifle together. Is it common practice to peen them or simply cut them short enough to recess them on both sides of the stock? Seems to me peening them would essentially eliminate taking the rile apart down the road without...

    FOR SALE TC breach plugs

Any chance you could get one made for 15/16 barrel with the 11/16 fine thread? I have my old one. It’s rough, but it’s yours if it helps.

    Woodsrunner range day

Very nice boom stick. I ordered a .54 Woodsrunner last weekend. Cannot wait to get these hands busy. I like the look the JAX black gave your barrel and lock.

    CLOSED TC Hawken breech

Howdy gang, I'm looking for an 11/16-20 breech plug for a .50 TC Hawken. Yes, they do come out :). I can only find the 5/8-18 at TOW. Thanks Pearl

    Some antler powder measures

I just made one exactly like the last pic. I sanded the bottom flat so it stands straight up and wont tip over when full. I drilled a hole through it and added it to my lanyard that has my antler short starter on it, same antler side was used for both tools. Pretty cool use of otherwise useless...

    New TC Hawken sights

Same thought crossed my mind. Last night I walked outside at about the darkest time I would take a shot at a critter. I could easily see my front blade and target at 50 yards. I didn't walk back farther because I was very satisfied at 50. .

    New TC Hawken sights

I'm sure these have been discussed on here. But, I wanted to reenforce it a bit. I'm "old" and cant see without 2.5 readers on. I have been popking around peep sights for months. Finally settled on one and purchased the RMC closed peep from OxYoke. Wow, its a 100% improvement. I can clearly see...

    carrying loose shot

I collect old .375" end mill tubes with rubber caps from work. Measure out a few loads into them. Both powder and shot. Then load both barrels and carry a capper with me. Usually have 4-5 total rounds available. I only turkey hunt, so if 4/5 rounds isn't enough its time to quit and head back to...

What are your favorite Thompson Center (T/C) Percussion guns?

I have an early 90s 50 cal New Englander dad gave me. It shoots 385 gr Great Plains bullets at a screaming rate with 80 gr of 3f. Very accurate. My favorite is my 73 Hawken. It shoots a .490 ball and .015 patch sitting on top of 60 grains of 3F with a lubed felt wad on top of the charge. Very...
