Looking for a Decent Spotting Scope.

Well... I know you're in Texas, but if a drive to Georgia is in the budget, we'll sell you a $3000 scope for less than $1000. It's a Cabelas scope, and we have had it for over a year now. Czech made. 70 power.

Do i need a custom flintlock rifle??

The blessing of being a deep south fella is that our breezes are predictable and rarely able to push through the cover of the scrub. I don't particularly use a .40 for deer as I have a .45, a .50, a .54, and a .60. But, if I found myself on Cumberland or Sapelo with a .40, I'd bet only a...

Do i need a custom flintlock rifle??

My .40 is for small deer and smaller critters. Coyote, squirrel, or lets just say anything smaller than deer.

    Leatherman Bags

Would just like to echo pretty much everyone else: his bags are fantastic. Super authentic? No, but so we'll made that you won't care one iota. Buy em. Here's my only one so far. Got the leather strap instead of the cloth. Had to shorten it significantly though for a high ride.

    Hickory

It's also best if you have it done by a one-eyed goblin... in a shed.

Do i need a custom flintlock rifle??

How'd you know I've already been dipping into the old "Special Sheep Linament" as the sun set on this balmy Monday?

    Baker rifle powder horn

Were Bakers not the first military rifle to use pre-manned cartridges/cartouches?

Do i need a custom flintlock rifle??

I think you should go with at least a semi-custom. I view Kibler kits as semi-custom, even though you have to finish it yourself or pay some to finish it. I am very glad that I took almost 30 years to obtain a flintlock, despite idolizing them since I saw Last of the Mohicans at age 9 with my...

Up Close and Personal with an RW Wright Flintlock Pistol from 1977

Just watched your new video on shooting this now that it's yours. Congrats on the pistol and the new home range!

    New flinter in the house!

I'm sorry you received such a vehement rebuttal on a happy occasion. Please stick around. Even though as a Georgian I am opposed to nearly all things Florida, this is a place for mutual enjoyment of a shared passtime and hobby. We do have our spats, and we all get riled up about things we...

    I'm Lazy

Since mine appears to have been done after the lock and rifle were complete(metals a different color), I suspect the original owner or builder did it, rather than being built in.

    Simon Kenton?

I was bit confused by "fallback", but I know what you meant now. At first I thought you thought I was talking about bows when you led off with osage and yew. People always find something to do the trick. Let us also not forget that American live oak, though unsuitable for masts, made some...

    Simon Kenton?

Osage is a "Mississippi River and West" wood. Not an Atlantic seaboard wood. And dogwood, by God... better luck working granite. I can't imagine anyone thinking of hickory as a fallback. Much less Louis and Clark getting extra stocks of hickory rods for shooting sticks. Is there some form of...

Conical or PRB IN .50 1 in 24 twist?

It will probably shoot PRB fine. They aren't pool balls, and rifling ain't putting "English" on them. But it should also shoot conical great too. Lucky you!
