New kid on the block here!

welcome to the forum and good choice on the first ml, i also chose the gpr when i got the itch a few months ago but mine is a .54, but nonetheless a very purty and accurate rifle.

    Which should I get?

go with the trade rifle, i would get one if they made them for lefty's. :bull:

Just applied for my ML buck tag but dont think i will get it. It takes most residents about 3 years preference before you draw one, but i still got my rifle tag that i can use my ML with. I made a pact with myself that i will not drag the center fires out of the gun cabinet this year.

ive been seeing a darn good one that is a mainframe 5x5 that is probably going to be around 150, but i havent got a photo of him yet just seen him through binos the other day,i would like to get one of these two in the picture with my bow because i think they will at least meet pope and young...

    24" vs 28" Barrel in a Lyman

I personally would take the 54 over the 50 for the same reasons already given.

Squirrels better look out...the .40cal is ready !

You have my dream rifle. I just got started in muzzleloading with my gpr in percussion but i already want to get a lancaster in the flintlock .54. Im jealous

    Hunting in a couple years

that is one dandy muley, hopefully he has alot of luck with the ladies this fall, it would be nice to have a plot of ground filled with that caliber of deer.

    The time is getting near

this is one of many i have my eye on this year. cant you tell his is just begging to de-virginize the gpr.

    simply amazing

i know what you mean fly. This black powder stuff consumes my mind all day long, this gpr is my first one but i do see some type of full stock flint lock and a 47 walker in my future. :hmm:

yup the the ole center fire rifles are gonna have a lonely season in the gun cabinet. Hell with that kinda accuracy i suppose it wouldnt be a bad idea to take the gpr prairie dog huntin. That would be good target practice for deer season.

    simply amazing

took my gpr to range again this morning to try it a 100 yards one more time to see if it was set. the last 3 shots were the ones making the ragged hole. my load is the .530 hornady rb with .018 ticking patch, olive oil lube, and 90 grns of goex 2f. I never expected this kind of accuracy at 100...

    GPR range report

just took mine out to 100 yards yesterday and just increased the load to 90 grains and it shot dead nuts so it looks like i have a load for hunting.

    Recomendation for first Muzzleloader

im just starting in the black powder shooting as well but i think the sights on my gpr would cover up a buick regal at 300 yards lol. I am only comfortable out to 100 with open sights and a patched round ball but i am also going to be hunting, paper is probably easy to kill at 150. I think if...

    Patch lubing ?'s

i dont mean to steal your thread but i am new to this game as well and i also hunt in the -20 below weather. i have been using olive oil and was wondering if that would work for the winter weather?

    GPR range report

i wanted to put the primitive rear sight on mine but it slid across the barrel and would not grip so i just tightened the adjustable sight all the way down. I hope it does not shoot too low at 100, out here in these wide open spaces i could be looking at 100 yard shots more than 50 yard shots...
