A word to the wise, listen to the old farts once in awhile..

One of the few things I listened to when I was a young man was, "You won't live long enough to make all of the mistakes yourself." There is a wealth of knowledge out there, that might be taken to the grave, because nobody seeks it out.

    Poor preformance

Pretty much in the 200gr camp here. I shoot steel balls also, they can be dug out of the backstop and reused. In the video, you can hear the ball hit the 100 yard backstop. Howitzer shot

Do you display your flintlock or other guns in your home

As a rule, I don't display firearms. As special as my flintlocks are, they stay out of sight, stored like a firearm. Which is a shame, because they are so neat.

    Why not a Kukri

I agree it's a big stretch, and I really won't defend it. Reading this book and others, I realized there was so much more to the American frontier, that I previously knew. The Adventures of the Mountain Men True Tales of Hunting, Trapping, Fighting, and Survival

    Why not a Kukri

I think you could get away with it. Trading to the "Orient" was pretty common on the west coast when Mexico occupied California. Ships docked and traded in the San Francisco area.

    Hern Ironworks Coehorn Mortar.

Does it have to be a Hern barrel? I have a complete South Bend Replicas mortar, that will be for sale soon. Shipping might be prohibitive. Where are you located?
