Thanks for that post, I really need to take the safety course.

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

Hey I actually had someone private message me about buying shot by a large bag. I didn't know that was an option until I made this post last night. I am not yet going hunting with the trade gun. Still need to take the safety course. Just trying to figure out a good load for the range first then...

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

Shortly after my previous post I got fed up with the thimbles being misaligned with the entry. Either the thimble near the muzzle need to sit lower or the middle needed to be recessed further. I spent a few hours installing the 7/8 track of the Wolf entry thimble. It is a little oversized but...

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

Here are the photos of the Trade Gun. I left some of the butt area a little rough. Also the third barrel pin the wood on the washer side got chipped. I removed the barrel after staining to try and wipe away excess which I did. When I punched the solid pin back in it chipped. I used toothpick...

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

I need to get my hunting license. I am in the gulf coast of Florida. I don't even know if Grouse exist where I live in the Tampa area. I know there are some wild chickens running around and turkey. I have seen a few Turkey vultures up close eating road kill. We got some wild hogs an anacondas...

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

I will have to reread the pinned post about shot on this forum thanks. I never heard of Grouse.

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

Thanks I will have to buy many more tins then as it comes in 250 per tin. That gives me five loads using fifty bb pellets. I was going to use 90 grains ff schutzen. Never had goose sounds tasty.

Question about what to load in a smoothbore.

Hi all, I recently completed a 20 gauge Pedersoli Indian trade gun kit from DGW. I didn't take pictures yet. Still needs a little touch up but I am happy with it. I didn't buy 60 cal round ball yet. I did buy a whole bunch of lead round bb gun ammo .177 caliber to use as shot. Has anyone use...

    Trade gun rear sight

Wow man small world, I just built a Pedersoli Indian trade gun flintlock kit from DGW. That I could make out of 16 gauge steel. I'll have to think about it, requires no welding. Just screw it into the barrel tang screw that screws into the trigger plate. Ingenious, I love it!

Pedersoli Scout Rifle Flintlock 50 cal

I appreciate it, I don't know if you're trying to give up yours but I am good with my Pedersoli Scout Rifle. If I didn't have it then yeah. I appreciate it though.

Pedersoli Scout Rifle Flintlock 50 cal

I can't find the Traditions Tennessee rifle anywhere used. Too bad they stopped making it.

Pedersoli Scout Rifle Flintlock 50 cal

Hi Rustic bob what is the flint lock on the bottom? That a Jaeger rifle? Thank you for your reply. Yeah I have a few dozen small flints I bought when I got into this hobby over the summer. I do that with all my guns, I keep extras of a lot of parts just in case. I still need to take the safety...

    Keeping Muzzleloading Alive

I see a lot of people here writing about the decline in culture. While the subject is about teaching the next generation about traditional muzzle loading I do see the valid parallels to the decline in traditional values. In a way the struggle is very much the same as a Church whose membership is...

First flintlock rifle, my highly customized Investarm 50 cal Hawken rifle.

Track of the wolf sells front sling swivels that could work. I originally had the brass ramrod thimble where the rear brass thimble had a front sling swivel attachment on the bottom of the brass thimble. I remember reading here about people wearing put the threads in the barrel from using the...

First flintlock rifle, my highly customized Investarm 50 cal Hawken rifle.

I know what you mean. The barrel rib is held on by four tiny m 3.5 screws. I don't want to put pressure on the threaded portion of the barrel that the screws screw into. A little bit of acetone and cold blue every once in a while isn't so bad.

First flintlock rifle, my highly customized Investarm 50 cal Hawken rifle.

You do need to gouge out quite a bit. I used a 3/8 drill bit on a drill press after I marked where the side plate needed to fit. The action screw and vent hole line up with the action. You do need to carefully remove a fair of wood though. I also used feeler gauges to measure the gap between the...

    Lyman Trade Rifle

bushytail Yup the inside of the lock. That looks exactly like an Investarms Hawken flintlock action thanks. They use a coil spring instead of a leaf spring for the cock and sear. I am not sure if there is a problem with spark clean the vent hole, replace the flint, and you can always buy a...

    Lyman Trade Rifle

That looks like an Investarms lock. If it has coil main spring then it definitely is Investarms. I think mine was a hair off center. As long as the touch hole is within a clear path of the pan and fairly close to the center it should work okay. The barrel can be taken out and cleaned.

    Pedersoli Baker Rifle

I looked at Kibler's site. Their kits look great and I'm speculating here. I only built a one Pedersoli kit thus far being their Scout Rifle. From Kibler's website For builders of contemporary flintlock long rifles every one of their rifles you automatically have to add an extra $300 for the...
