I've been thinking about buying one of these flinters. Wondering if any members has one ?
A custom gun like a Kibler just isn't in my budget but this Lyman is probably affordable.
I have one of those Lyman flinters, 50 caliber deer Hunter model, purchased in 2004? and I really like it. I had to tune on it a little, But I enjoyed doing it and it works just fine. I'm not a perfectionist or a purist, own three other percussion rifles and three pistols. They all shoot, they're fun To shoot, And I think they all came from overseas. One even has a fiberglass stock and a 24 inch barrel, but I can shoot it offhand any other ones are too darn heavy.

Yup the inside of the lock. That looks exactly like an Investarms Hawken flintlock action thanks. They use a coil spring instead of a leaf spring for the cock and sear. I am not sure if there is a problem with spark clean the vent hole, replace the flint, and you can always buy a replacement frizen. Frizen may need to be hand fitted. When I was using the original Investarm lock I replaced the frizen and it wouldn't fit. It was very close, it had to be ground slightly to fit.

The older models are as good as you can do.

They feel right, they look good, and their potential accuracy is greater than the shooters.

I have one that I am putting together form a kit and the lock is the same as the ones made 20 years ago!
