    Lyman Trade Rifle

Yeah but the L&R replacement lock for all Investarm rifles has leaf springs and is a better lock than the one you will get from Lyman because it has rain guards, a roller on the frizzen, and a ledge under the frizzen making the pan semi water proof.

    Lyman Trade Rifle

I've done that too. I had a half stock CVA flintlock I put an L&R lock in. Tried making it into a two piece full stock rifle but couldn't get it to work. Ended up selling it. The Traditions Mountain Rifle with an L&R lock would be a decent choice to but, the stock and fittings on Investarm and...

    Lyman Trade Rifle

Oh okay in that case yeah. I don't even think Kibler offers a half stock. I would check out the Investarms Gremmer and Bridger Hawken kits also. They are cheaper than the now Pedersoli made Lyman trade rifle. I do note that the Investarm flintlock action is not as good as the Pedersoli one...

    Pedersoli Baker Rifle

Depends on the Pedersoli a lot of their rifles are very reasonable for the high quality you get. They are a lot cheaper as a kit to and their kits come with finished actions, generally have blued barrels, fitted locks, triggers, and barrels. They make a Jaeger rifle in 54 caliber which if you...

    Lyman Trade Rifle

What kind of gun do you want? Do you want a half stock or a full stock flintlock? Pedersoli makes the Kentucky and Pennsylvania flint locks as 90% finished kits for $700 to $800 range about. It takes only a few hours of work to finish. Dixie has them, I bought my Pedersoli Scout rifle from them...

    Flash size & ignition

Too little pan powder it won't ignite. I have had both happen to me.

    Flash size & ignition

Flintlock is a bit more involved. It's basically a mechanical match strike. You have probably used one of those old fashioned phosphate wood matches where you strike the grey strip on the box. The flint is the match and the frizzen is the gray strip. The flint or match in this case can be used...

    Flash size & ignition

I have the Scout Rifle in 50 cal as a flintlock. It uses the exact same lock as your Kentucky rifle. It's just a 28 inch barrel instead of 35. I have Scheutzen 2f. I ground my 2f using a hand operated pepper grinder to 4f. Every time I pulled the trigger thus far as long as the flint was sharp...

    Re-crowned a Pedersoli Flintlock

I had an unfinished crown on my Pedersoli Scout rifle which I bought as a kit. I just sanded it by hand with a sharpening stone then by sand paper and blued it. I haven't owned or had a chance to view one of their factory finished rifles. My kit rifle did need the crown finished. How did you get...

    First Flintlock Rifle

Very nice rifle. I like them the Kiblers, bit out of my price range. I may save up for one someday.

Pedersoli Scout Rifle Flintlock 50 cal

I don't own a chronograph yet. I use schuetzen also just 2f instead of 3f. I thought max load was 60 grains 2f. The Pedersoli manual has all these safety warnings and many don't apply to flintlock lol. However they don't have load data for your muzzleloader in the manual. Thought for some odd...

My first ever shots with a flinter. TC PA Hunter

Very nice! Do you have still photos of the rifle? What is the barrel length?

First flintlock rifle, my highly customized Investarm 50 cal Hawken rifle.

I can take more pictures later. I thought of replacing the patch box with a Harper ferry 1803 style but the darn circle cut out is too wide. It's not worth the effort. It is a historical patchbox but it's a bit later 1830s or so.

    Opinions on Pedersoli Trade Gun?

If it were myself buy the kit version of Pedersoli musket or rifle you want. You will save $200 or more. It's just sanding, staining, touch up bluing and maybe one hole to drill. They do 90% of the work for you. I built a scout rifle kit from them. The Indian muskets from what I read the locks...

Pedersoli Scout Rifle Flintlock 50 cal

That's pretty good at about 100 yards. I put a dozen round balls down range with 60 grains of 2ff. It's the German bp. I hit a little right but it could be just me. I like it a lot thanks.
