    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

one big problem with people having those big powerful guns for home defense is where will that bullet go and how far if you miss. Who might actually be shot or killed. What would happen to you if that bullet killed or wounded a innocent person?

Home defense black powder shotgunhome defense black powder shotgun

I'm not sure, but the one of the main reason for coming up with smokeless powder was to do away with the smoke, not because of lack of power it produced . No matter how hidden you thought you where after you started shooting everyone knew your hidding spot .

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

I did that type of testing myself and posted here on this forum. Said few people know the power of black powder. The problem is we are talking to to many paper target shooters and mocho people, that if it doesn't hurt after you shoot you aren't using enough powder or not using a big enough gun .

    Why .40 cal?

In Indiana it's legal to use a 410 slug for deer so why not 40cal black powder?

    Why .40 cal?

I read that Indiana is considering making it legal for deer hunting.

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

36cal with 25grans BP 15yards went through a 1inch solid treated deck board and kept going. I think that would do some major damage to a skull of anything

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

Few know the power off Blackpowder because all they do is shot paper targets. I posted sometime back what my 36cal. Lyman revolver did at 45 feet. When through a 1in treated deck board and kept going. My 44cal went through that board and a 1/4 in plywood sheet then embedded deep into a ash log...

Can you get 3 aimed shots a minute?

Has anyone read the March Mozzle Blasts? Accidental ignition, loading a hot barrel. The hole article is good read.

    Round ball and blood trails

I have always been impressed with the size a round ball makes in a deer. Stop using other types years ago seemed a waist of lead and powder.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Last Saturday got out my 44cal but used pyrodex P . Shot 35gr. And round balls. Shot first 15 yards putting that ball through that treaded deck board. Then went out to 25yards put a 1/4 inch plywood it front of the treaded deck board. Still went all the way through ,then buried it self in to...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Last Friday was able to shot my 36cal Lyman. Had to adjust the rear site some but shot good. Using 25grans 3ff black and round ball at 35 feet then out to 45 feet. It put that ball all the way through that 1inch treated deck board and kept going. Showed me the power of black powder.

    Round ball and blood trails

Knowing what and how a shot deer reacts is just as important. Did that deer run away flagging and jumping means missed or poorly hit. Tail and head down ,run straight not jumping means a good hit. Then if needed look for blood.

    How Ridiculous is This?

Have anyone been to a live auction that has any kind of guns up for sale. I was at a auction today and a 22 heritage pistol that you can buy at Rual King anyday for under $150 dollars went for $350. Two Rugers 22 went for even more. These were used guns to boot.
