    sometimes you do the best you can. I kinda like less expensive rifles most of the one's I have shoot good they do what I need. They not be pristine but if I scratch it I don't have a coronary. Bruce

    it seems the fore stock has the grain at a 90 degree to the stock 🤔. both are stained light oak, I think I'll go darker or faux stripe the whole rifle and around the transition.

    @Panama Red you have inspired me to get off the fence . I have 2 caplock Kentucky rifles one cva, one traditions (can't really tell the difference) I've been wanting to change them reduce wood, join the two stocks,and repin so I'll be following your posts. Bruce

    You got it ALL wrong, son…

    it'll shoot good . I always think that it's better to learn on a "less costly " tool than screw up on a more costly tool. My traditions Springfield Hawken sparks well it's not the fanciest rifle, but it's a good platform to learn on. When you learned to drive you didn't start with a Lamborghini...

    How I made my Felt Hats

    I've gone shopping and found a few hats for repurposing ,funny part it's in the women's section. The floppy "hippy" style work great and around 5 bucks they make great blanks. some just need stiffening. I've always am in awe of the dyi crafters on this web site, thanks @DiMarco_Mercantile .     @DiMarco_Mercantile I really enjoyed the post. I found a kinda slouch hat at goodwill , it looked like a blank so I used your post and made a passable hunter's hat. I'll be on the lookout for more hats. The good thing most of them have the distressed look and they don't have to be in perfect...

    I'm also a lefty shooter with all rights guns. I don't have a problem unless I use a bag and horn then it's a bit clumsy, but workable.

    Gemmer Muzzleloading Gun Club is really nice with a great bunch of guys. As a newbie they were helpful and welcoming. I have some health issues ,when they get straightened out I will be back. They have a great place to shoot in Pacific .Bruce
