    Sargent York - 1941

At the risk of thread drift I’d like to beg everyone’s indulgence to give honorable mention to the swivel breech rifle carried by Gary Cooper in “Unconquered.” Paulette Goddard looks better at holding a rifle than Gary Cooper.

Do Slixshot nipples lessen cap jams in Colt style C&B?

Yes! That is why I use them.

    Squirrels.

Has anyone ever made buffalo squirrel wings?

    Squirrels.

If you are in a conversation and the topic of ruffed grouse comes up say something like; "They taste just like spotted owls," and watch the reactions.

    Squirrels.

Confucius once said; "If you want to see lots of squirrels, go deer hunting. If you want to see lots of deer, go squirrel hunting."

    .58 percussion pistol

Another option would be to get the Harpers Ferry 1805 pistol in flint then have converted to percussion. That's what they use to do. https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index/page/product/product_id/8634/category_id/320/product_name/RH0225+Pedersoli+Model+1805+Harpers+Ferry+Pistol

    Amusing/Ridiculous Muzzleloading Misconceptions...

I thought of this years ago but have not put it in to action. I was thinking about filling the inside of the pumpkin with jello. The tough part about that idea is picking a color. Should I go with matching orange or a contrasting color like, green, red or blue? Or... should I cross over to...

    Amusing/Ridiculous Muzzleloading Misconceptions...

After doing CW re-enactments and watching some incidents of equine misbehavior I could imagine problems with large numbers of the hooved beasts of burden congregating.

Colt 1860 Army 2nd. Gen. & Slixshot nipples

Yes. The revolvers have never shot better. With respect to the 3rd Model Dragoon, some of the OEM nipples were too short. The caps were not detonating every time. That's because the OEM nipples were on the short side. The Slix-Shot nipples solved that problem. I use them in all of my cap...

    Amusing/Ridiculous Muzzleloading Misconceptions...

They've been gone a while but looking back on everything in my life; I wished that I would have paid more attention and heeded the advice of my parents. When my Father was telling me something that I didn't want to hear he would usually add, "I wished someone would have talked to me like I'm...

Colt 1860 Army 2nd. Gen. & Slixshot nipples

I looked at the packaging for the Slix-Shot nipples for my 2nd generation Colt revolvers. For the 1860 Army the packaging says "For most Uberti Cap & Ball Revolvers 12-28 Thread." For the 3rd Model Dragoon the packaging says "For Most Walker Cap & Ball Revolvers 1/4 by 28 Thread."

Colt 1860 Army 2nd. Gen. & Slixshot nipples

I had contacted the manufacturer about what thread pitch to order for my revolvers. He told me to go to a hardware store like Lowe’s and put the OEM nipple in the thread gauge to determine whether it was English or metric. Good advice as I knew what to order and didn’t have any problems.
