    My eyes are going bad!

I put this on my Frontier flintlock. Haven't tried it out yet but I have a lot of experience with peep sights. So far my initial impressions are good. The one reservation that I have is that the aperture is a little too large. Nevertheless, it is a HUGE improvement over the barrel mounted...

    Howdah-do?

You're killing me Smalls! I was doing a search on this forum to see if anyone has purchased the flintlock version of the Howdah. I have the percussion version and love it! I have to go into a private room just to look at your pictures of your pistol. I was wondering about the browning of...

    Cheap Speed Capper PART 2

Thanks but after posting this information on DIY cappers, I've discovered the Polish capper. I liked it so much that I got several of them for my different guns and some for friends. They are great folks to do business with. Some may be nervous about sending money overseas but I've made...

    Pedersoli Frontier & Pennsylvania Rifles

I replaced the factory sight blade with a shorter brass blade. Just curious; after filing how high is the front sight?

    Disappointing Range Day

Try the Slix-Shot nipples. I've got them on all of my revolvers and haven't looked back.

    Pedersoli Frontier & Pennsylvania Rifles

Can we see pictures of the Skinner peep sight and how you mounted it on the rifle? Asking for a friend. Edit: Never mind. I see that it is the dovetail mounted peep sight. I tried the Marble's peep sight in the dovetail but had trouble getting a good sight picture. You must like it or else...

Log Cabin Shop Trip and Tour...........

I paid them a visit a few months ago and got a great deal on a used Northwest Trade Gun. It is really difficult to leave the place once you walk in the door.

    WANTED howdah

There was a Howdah pistol behind the counter at a store in Ohio. From a distance it looked good. Price was somewhere around $600. You won't find the pistol on the website but the phone number is (740) 928-3474. Vance's Outdoors 150 Arrowhead Blvd., Hebron, OH 43025. Vance Outdoors | Online...

    Pedersoli sxs ?

I don't like catching fragments in the eye. Getting stung on the arm on occasion is not a problem. On the other hand, after a lengthy shooting session, when the arm is red and raw from the flash debris; that is a problem. So for the tough guys that don't have a problem with their arms...

    Pedersoli sxs ?

I've tried flash cups before on other guns. Maybe I was doing something wrong but kept getting flash debris back in my eyes and face. I was also having the same problem before installing the Hot-Shot nipples.

    Pedersoli sxs ?

I have a 20 gauge Pedersoli that's about a year old. I have the same problem and also wear long sleeves. On days when I've shot it a lot, the inside of my left wrist gets really irritated and sometimes breaks out in a rash. BTW, I have new Hot-Shot nipples on the gun to help with ignition. I...

    Ferguson rifle breech screw.

Where did you get your rifle? Have you had any problems with the stock breaking as shown in the previous video?

    Ferguson rifle breech screw.

That's interesting. What do you use for lubricant on the threads of the screw? I don't have, or even held, a Ferguson. However, if I did, I often thought of lubricating it with white lithium grease like I do for the gas check of my Shiloh 1863 Sharps rifle. I fill in the cavity where the gas...

    Ferguson rifle breech screw.

I discovered this video of repairing a Ferguson rifle this morning. It's the first time that I've seen the rifle in separate pieces with a good analysis of function and the flaws. I always wanted a preproduction but the price is out of my reach right now. In the test firing of the rifle...

Patch and ball rifles are not ideal hunting rifles

I've not had the pleasure of harvesting a big animal yet with a patched round ball but have lost count of the deer that I've killed with my Whitworth. With that data in mind, can I say that a conical bullet is superior to a round ball? Absolutely not. With no experience on measuring the...
