    What did you do today

Unfortunately I shot like a (insulting term omitted) that, coupled with some extremely heavy rain meant that I stopped after an hour. I did discover that my Euroarms doesn’t like .375 conicals and a light load (12g Swiss No. 2). I didn’t shoot the second gun. Back to the drawing board.

Couldn’t think of a name for a bit of aluminium that fits over the loading lever and helps take the pressure off my ever softening old hands!🥴. I could have called it a nandle I suppose?

    What did you do today

Not today, yesterday. Went to Surrey to pay my last respects to ‘Big Jim’. Anyone who has ever been to Bisley would know who that is. And managed to prove that my latest toy can shoot even if I can’t 🥴🥴🥴

Parker-Hale Musketoon and mis-shaped swaged bullets...

My two band shoots to the left too at both 50 and 100x. Last time out I used made - up cartridges with 45g Swiss 2. This produced a 5” group at 100. I don’t lube the base but use a 70/30 Trex/bees wax dip lubed into the grooves. cast bullets swaged down to 7’ under bore size. HTH?

    The g in ffg

After a bit of a search I ‘rediscovered’ this https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a150455.pdf US Army study of BP. On graphite an extract says Another characteristic of black powder is its graphite coat, and little information exists to describe this envelope or its function. One...

Tried to send a comforting email to a Shipmate of fifty years after he told me that he starts chemo on Monday as his cancer has come back. He won't survive surgery the tell him Paul, who lost a leg through a tropical parasitic attack, has blocked arteries in his 'good' leg and a heart...

    What did you do today

Not today, yesterday. Worked on a Euroarms (1996) New Model Navy I was gifted by a dealer friend. It was handed in because it wouldn't hold full-cock. Someone had tried to lighten the trigger and completely ruined the profile. I gave it a dab of weld, attacked it with my Dremel look-alike, some...

New purchase, definitely porcine! Pitted bore and cylinder. I may be able to lap some of it out but the gun is never going to be perfect unless I can persuade my Firearms Officer to let me import a new barrel and cylinder. Now there's a flock of winged porcine beasts for you :o)

    Question about powder

They are all corrosive if you don’t clean. My experience? Both about equal.

    What did you do today

Today I went to get my 'new' revolver. It was cheap and there was no manufacturer's name on the shop's website. It was obvious that the gun hadn't been cherished by a former owner with bumps and scratces all over (Cheap remember) The cylinders all locked positively and securely which is all I...
