    You might do better rounding out that buttcap with a large rounded wood punch than trying to peen it with a hammer.

    Brushyspoons got it. I add about 1/8 inch below the ramrod then cut the trigger bars to fit.

    You are talking about hunting. Not target shooting. The skill is being able to get to close enough to the animal that there is no need for a long shot. In the old days the Indians could get close enough to use a bow and arrow. All it takes is practice.

    Skinny work bench is definitely the way to go if you have enough space for it. I don't think I would make any changes. I really have not had any problems with it. I have never tripped over the base. But if that is an issue you could always not use a base and just bolt the table down to the floor...

    Guns are a lousy investment. But really nice guns are actually free. If you blow a few thousand dollars on a gun you get to use it for a few years, then sell it and get back the money that you have into it. Maybe even make a few dollars.
