    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

All long guns, including the unmentionables, are always shot pulled tight against the shoulder.

    The Double Double

See how bad I am. Even though I knew his death was in 1835 I posted it as 1837. Easy to see how the journals we read from different trappers writing about the same event don't always jive.

Thanks TFoley for the additional Jones info. Here is where I found when he bought the shop and also purchased life insurance and then passed away. http://www.researchpress.co.uk/rppublishing/rplibrary/rpl004-english-welsh-gunmakers-1550-1850-v1705.pdf

Hudson Bay Blanket, made of gold?

White was a very popular color with the Indians in particular. The candy stripe version of the Hudson Bay didn't come about till after the Fur Trade (for those trying to stay PC).

    Made a mistake (Graphic)

It takes a windlass to tighten a tourniquet tight enough to stop the bleed. If the person isn't screaming from the pain of the tourniquet being tightened it isn't tight enough. And rarely would you put one on a forearm or the lower leg. Each has two bones which will keep you from getting the...

Shooting a ramrod out of the barrel..?

When did this happen? A few nights ago I was looking at the sky and saw what I assumed was a meteor, or a big part of that Russian satellite. Maybe it was actually your ramrod. If it was I’m sorry to say it burned up in the atmosphere.

That's a good point. Again, pretty sure Jones already figured it out. :)

Hudson Bay Blanket, made of gold?

Another period correct option to go with is an Empointer blanket. Nice ones, hand woven can be had from Northwest Traders. I own four of them plus a capote made from one. They can be a little slow but the quality is excellent. Hand-Woven "Empointer" Blanket

Hudson Bay Blanket, made of gold?

Maybe a month ago I tried ordering some blankets from "The Bay". They won't ship to the United States, nor to Alaska. Ended up finding some new ones on Etsy, and yep, they are pricy.

    Made a mistake (Graphic)

Here is a link to a video done by a friend of mine who is a retired Green Beret Sniper/Medic. Around the 2 minute mark he starts describing how to set up the tourniquet for one handed operation.

    The Double Double

Actually the only thing that is "additional" to either a flint or percussion gun is the sliding plate that covers/uncovers the flash hole. I'd imagine that changing between flint and percussion didn't happen very often. One either had caps or they didn't. "made for a very wealthy anxious...

I thought the same thing. I think something thin put over the nipple or inside the hammer should be enough to cushion the blow.

    The Double Double

So here she is. The Double Double (for lack of a better description). A double 20 smoothbore with double ignition; flint and percussion cap. Made by Jones (I think John Jones) of Birmingham London. I'm guessing in the 1820's. I found records of Jones buying a shop in 1817. He died in 1837. It...

Percussion, ok I get it, but...

I wish I knew the answer. I've come up with three possibilities: 1. This was a percussion cap "proof of concept" gun, meaning are percussion caps as reliable as flint. Don't think this is very likely as it is a high end gun. Proof of concept would probably be done on a cheap platform. 2...
