    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

Equal height equal light. Working up a load off the bench is a good thing, if done correctly, as it obviously provides the most stable platform. But after that practice like you will use it in the field so you develop good muscle memory which leads to consistency.

    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

***** WARNING: using an unmentionable as an example ***** So true. I've got a rolling block 30-40 Krag (Scoped) whose barrel touches the wood everywhere along the stock and as long as I only rest the stock in my non-firing hand (and don't wrap my fingers around it) it will shoot dime sized...

    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

Yes, it happens with any firearm. Muzzleloader or not.

    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

Exactly. Support and hold the gun in the exact same way and it won’t matter whether on the bench or on the ground or anywhere in between the group is going to the same place. It’s tightness will improve off a bench but not it’s POI.

    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

Shoot off the bench exactly the same as you shoot off hand. No rear bag, pull the gun firmly into your shoulder, tight but not crushing grip on the comb. Support hand under the barrel in the exact same place on the stock whether off hand or on the bench. Equal height equal light on the sights...

    Made a mistake (Graphic)

So so sorry for what happened to you. Thanks for sharing. Glad the Paramedics got there in time. I'll use this to say that everyone should have some CAT tourniquets on hand. I have one in my truck, one in the boat, one in the bush plane, one that goes in my cargo pocket so it's on my person...

    Well, I finally dry-balled

Now that I'm running two double barrel pistols and a double barrel long gun this is a major caution for me. Six opportunities for me to screw up. Gonna need to develop a very precise procedure that I never deviate from, including a final check with the ramrods. Thanks for posting this.

Does anyone have a pic of powder in a pan?

^^ This is a much better quantity of powder in my opinion. And Brokennock's as well.

Does anyone have a pic of powder in a pan?

A picture won't help as no two guns, frizzens and flints are alike. Confirm that the gun is not loaded. Point the muzzle down range. Dribble in the smallest amount of powder. Cock and fire. Get a nice ignition? Then you know how much you need. Get weak or no ignition (and you did see sparks) try...

    Matching French Double 50's

I think I will do that. Actually the pistols are short enough that I could just carry a separate rod with the shooting pouch, either inside or outside in a dedicated sleeve.

    Matching French Double 50's

Most of the Mountain Men carried pistols (well the ones that survived anyway), a lot of them a pair of pistols, so when I came across these 1750'ish matching French Double Barrel 50cals that a French officer carried during the Revolutionary War I had to have them for my persona. One was in...

Percussion, ok I get it, but...

It's been almost 40 years since I've had or fired a percussion gun. Flintlocks, for me, are just way sexier. But now I have this gun that uses both, and after a bit of a hard time today I located a tin of percussion caps. Had a big empty shopping cart to put them into and said as much to the guy...

My Powder Horn is illegal in California

Give me a break. I was born and raised in California so if I decide to disparage the state that is my right. BUT I'M NOT. I said the title was meant as Tongue In Cheek which is defined as "Meant or expressed ironically or facetiously. not intended seriously; jocular or humorous cleverly amusing...
