    EMF Sale

You got me curious. Thinking about an 1860 Colt replica a bit. Looks like they're selling one for $303. They're calling it the "London" model. Anyone know what make that is? Seems like a good deal.

Best way to unload after an unsuccessful hunt?

Someone warned me against having a loaded gun exposed to large changes in temperature due to risk of condensation. I had a winter hunt and left my GPR loaded out in a vehicle at night. It stayed loaded for a month or so and went off fine when fired at the end of the hunt. Unfortunately it was...

Do you think that modern ML firearms have any investment value?

The investment value I see is that, if taken care of, they can last several more generations, unlike the cheap electronic crap the current generation is spending money on that will be obsolete and outmoded in a few months..(okay the guns I like were obsolete and outmoded a couple of centuries...

Do you think that modern ML firearms have any investment value?

I consider them to be an investment in my own future. Buy a few muzzleloaders now when I have more income and less time to have in a retired future (hopefully) when I have less income and more time. Then hope to pass them down to children or grandchildren.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Did a little more stitching on a shooting pouch. Can't say how long I've been working on it since I've lost track. Not the pinnacle of craftsmanship, I know, but it's something to do in the evenings by the fire. Made from scraps cut from an old leather jacket. I'm calling it the "Frankenpouch."

    Midway Sale Uberti 1860 Army

Looks very nice. Thanks for the video....need to keep reminding myself that it's something I don't need and will try to refrain from having more than one beer when I'm on this site until the sale is over.

    Shipping Caps to Alaska

It's good to have him here. I should look him up but have plenty of powder for the time being. What I need most now is to make some time to burn some powder. Always seems to be a very narrow window between when I get everything done for the summer and when cold, dark and snowy sets in.

    Shipping Caps to Alaska

Thanks for the tip. Granite view was where I bought my last batch of caps. Haven't seen any on the shelves here in Fairbanks for a very long time. Hitting the rondy sounds like fun. The last one I went to was on Chena Hot Springs Road and the smoke was so thick you couldn't see across the field.

    Shipping Caps to Alaska

Thanks. I was able to order the fixings for making caps. I haven't started making any yet as I've been able to accumulate an adequate supply and (unfortunately) haven't gone through very many this year.

    Stereotyping

I hate that. A couple of years ago I was talking to someone about shooting with the local muzzleloader club (upstanding citizens all) and he said "you're hanging out with a bunch of felons, you know!" What the heck. A bit like assuming that everyone you see riding a horse had their driver's...

    Alaska Dave in Florida

Welcome from Fairbanks AK! A build or two is on my list too. Hopefully be some time between getting caught up on other projects and kicking the bucket after I retire. You just need to come back to Alaska. We need more traditional muzzleloader types here. Our muzzleloader club here in...

Traditions Trapper Pistol. if you have one please respond.

Looks nice! Thanks. It appears you've answered his inquiry and I won't need to get the measurements on my Trapper. Pistol is here in the house but the calipers are out in my shop and it's raining sideways here.

Traditions Trapper Pistol. if you have one please respond.

Those were the measurements for a Trapper ramrod? I was not clear if the replies were about the Trapper or the Kentucky pistol that was mentioned. I have a Trapper if more measurements are needed.

where can i buy used black powder revolvers?

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but I get the impression that new percussion revolvers aren't selling for hugely more than the asking prices I'm seeing for the used ones.

looking for Pits that allow shooting in Maine

Yep, sad situation. Had more than one of my favorite shooting area get discovered by yahoos, then trashed, which led up to the appearance of fences and "no shooting" signs. I sometimes go shooting with my sister's kids when we visit them near Pittsfield ME. They're lucky to have a friend with...

looking for Pits that allow shooting in Maine

From my experience in Maine I get the the impression that most of it is private property. Shooters who have found a good shooting area on public property tend to keep it secret lest it be discovered by the orcs who leave broken glass and shot up appliances behind.

    Eye injuries from flintlock?

I'm getting there. I need reading glasses and am required to fly with corrective lenses and am getting so I feel better using them for driving too, although I can still pass the dmv eye test without them. Using non prescription safety glasses for shooting now but have a hard time focusing on...

    Eye injuries from flintlock?

Thanks, folks for all the great feedback. It seems to be mostly encouraging, at least there weren't a bunch of posts from one eyed shooters. I'll definitely point out to the wife the above mentioned observation about the pan ignition getting blown away from the shooter. She is very...

    Eye injuries from flintlock?

Fairly new to flintlocks here. Took the new (to me) Brown Bess Carbine replica out shooting a few weeks ago. My wife was watching and said she was quite bothered by the big flash right next to my face. I assured her that I'd be protected by safety glasses and I hadn't really heard much about...
