Storing black powder in a shed

I would say if they are the modern plastic containers, they are fine in the shed. Unfortunately, I had a pound or two of the nice metal containers that rusted through because I hadn’t used them in several years

    Primers

They are easier to get now than a year or two ago. Trick is to be quick. I would have my top 3-5 online suppliers open on tabs on my phone, and refresh 2/3 times a day. You can usually be notified when back in stock, but that you need to do it immediately….its kinda like calling in to a radio...

    Why .40 cal?

For those who use .40 for deer, what powder charge are you using? I’m happy with 35gn of fffg for target work, but maybe that’s not enough for an ethical shot?

    Solved the percussion cap issue.

I too would like to see this in production. The idea of it working in a reloading press is definitely attractive.

Is the Kibler SMR light and whippy?

I was a bit nervous when I ordered my SMR .40 that it was going to be too small for me, being a bigger guy (tall more than anything). I have a little trouble with the sights being pretty low, that’s my only complaint. Otherwise it is one of the smoothest, prettiest rifles in my collection. For...

Is it recommended to bore out cylinder to barrel diameter on Italian replica revolvers?

It made a big difference in my Italian clones

    NEED SOME ACCURACY HELP

I think most of my inconsistencies revolves around my vision of the sight and targets being used. Some days I think I have it dialed in, then next outing it’s not.

    My finished Kibler SMR

I may have tried using a little Trans Tint dark walnut that I bought by mistake, to darken it up a little. Otherwise it got the same basic treatment as the stock.

Kibler 58 Colonial or (future) Fowler?

I’m holding off for a Fowler myself, especially after reading this thread. Getting back to bird hunting would be fun, but also to bust a clay bird with a flintlock is a goal of mine too.

Is there a way to postpone cleaning a ml?

I get what you’re saying. I’ve been there. Time is rarely on my side with little kids around. I get paranoid if I can’t clean them right away, but my method is to go heavy with the Moose Milk (Ballistol+water) or straight Ballistol. Run a patch or two down the bore, spray down the lock/action...

    Best lead for casting ball?

Thanks. I’ll have to make a trip to a thrift store. I once bought two pewter candle stick holders for $20. I never weighed them, and I’m sure I overpaid. But I oughta melt them down and weigh.

    Best lead for casting ball?

What do you use for pewter and tin? And how do you know how much to use?
